3 minutes shadowboxing
25 pushups
25 situps
25 bw squats

Bagwork:
Basic footwork and combinations, 30 minutes

Groundwork:
Overview of gaurdpassing, armbar from gaurd, kimura from side mount, triangle from guard

Impressions:
I checked out the MMA class at the martial arts place I mentioned before. The instructors are fine for the price (55 dollars a month). One of them is a high school wrestling coach, the other an amatuer fighter w/ a muay thai and jiu jitsu background with some BJJ tourney wins. Class focused on technique, which a good thing since I'll only be able to make it once or twice a week and can do most of the conditioning on my own.
Looks like I'll be the biggest guy in class. Next closest is a 200 lber. This should be interesting.

no, don't give him any tips on the PP....

Finn, the secret to a good push press is very little leg drive....:D

Ask Standard about the trials and tribulations of being the biggest S.O.B if you want to know what is ahead haha

Bending:
1/6th inch bolt, underhand. *videoed, but memory ran out*

Push Press:
135 x 5
155 x 2 +0

Impressions:
Not a bad day. Vids will be posted shortly. I had nothing left for PP at all, so I'll film it some other time. The Zercher Squat went up well enough. I didn't have any more left in me today, but I think I can get 450 within a month or so.
The weighted dips were fun. I put the anvil in a gym bag, ran my belt through the handles, and dipped off of a washer/ dryer. I gotta get a dip belt now. (and make a dip station).
The bending was just a whimsical thing. I may order a bending kit before long.
Also, most of this is *gasp!* well lit so you can see what I'm doing.

Badass man...badass...

Can't wait for the vid. Better yet, I can't wait to hear graedy's expression when he sees all of our videos compiled.

Hey Finn were there any markings on the head of the bolt? And did you do that barehanded? You are one strong SOB.

It was just a piece of metal I found in the garage. I'll have to get a real bolt to know where I'm at. For full disclosure, I did use chalk to keep it from slipping in my grip too much. I'll have to drop by Home Depot sometime this week and get a few rods.

If I ever run into Finn in real life, I'll go ahead and dial 9-1...just in case some metro crosses his path...I'd hate to see that poor bastard bleed-out from Finn's uppercut.

I'm an easygoing guy usually. If anything, I've got a superhero complex. I have a bad habit of stepping up to people who think they are badass and are trying to intimidate people. Unfortunately, this has happened at work. I had a boss attempt to "assert dominance". I used a few primate non verbal cues to let him where we stood in that particular hierarchy. Watch a documentary on baboons. Baring your teeth in a certain way with a certain posture will either provoke a fight or make someone cower.
Long story short, I won.

In other news:
Equipment Purchases:
16 oz. Boxing gloves
mouthpiece
On the list:
180" mexiwraps. Any recommendations before I buy?
"Infinite Intensity"

Mexiwraps...knees?

Check some PL federation websites and make sure that those are legal for a meet...you know, just in case you want to compete.

Now, I'm off to see if any baboon fights are on Youtube.

Dammit, I'm voting for a St. Wilhelm's (or even just an S&P) meet in a centralized location. A lot of us live within 4-6 hours of one another. We need to make it happen someday.

mexiwraps=mexican styles hand wraps. They are 180 inches long and slightly elastic.
Oh, and:

i know we got some boys up north in the midwest.. and i roll near chicago... i'd also be the weakest one there. on second though, i do not support the meeting..... unless bubble boy is coming. then we're cool.

I told myself that if I ever paid money to train MMA, it was with the intent to compete. Well, I'm paying money to train, so that settles that.

Current list of goals:
Aquire equipment:
Dip Belt
Dip/ Pullup station
Tire
Mexiwraps
"Infinite Intensity"
2.5, 3 CoC grippers
MT Headgear
Running shoes *grumble, kick dirt, swear under breath*
Sauna suit

Athletic Goals:
Increase grip strength to psychotic levels.
Lose 20 lbs.
Maintain/ increase strength across the board.
Train technique relentlessly.
More cardio.

Timeframe: 1 year. If I do not feel that I am ready to compete at the amateur level within one year, reevaluate these goals.

I am currently 6'1, 235-240 lbs. As such, I am a smallish HW currently (nevermind that Fedor has the same stats). I could stand to lose some fat. My plan is to get within 10-15 lbs of LHW and cut water weight. The increased conditioning should be enough to drop 10 lbs or so without much more effort on my part. I'll need some dietary advice, as I am certain that I am undercutting my calories (2200-2400 a day currently).

So, here we go.

Good list of equipment

What kinda gloves did you get? there is difference between a bag glove and a sparring glove and even a compeition glove. Also doing MMA you may want to get MMA gloves, comp or sparring so when you do rolling with striking your not going to be at the disadvantage of using boxing gloves.

Mexi-wraps, i use ringside wraps personally and find they are like night and day compared to the everlast junk i had before. As long as your getting 180" mexi wraps you'll be fine. There is also some links in the striking forum about wrapping your hands properly. Cracking bones in your hands suck, it'll hurt to open doors or turn on cars for a couple months.

Dip belts are a waste i think, i use a 5' length of chain and a carabiner and it works great and costs less then half what a dip belt costs.

I would also suggest getting a rashguard, i find it just helps when rolling and even sparring not getting caught in a loose shirt.

235 - 240 is a good HW size i think, thats where i want to be if i fight HW. Any bigger and i think cardio and speed get really slowed down but thats just IMO.

Good luck man

Thanks Standard. I've got the following equipment on hand:
cheap Short sleeve rashgaurd
cheap Long sleeve rashgaurd
16 OZ Everlast Pro Style training gloves
7 OZ. Century MMA-style bag gloves
7 OZ. slip-on bag gloves
108" everlast cotton wraps
double mouthgaurd
board shorts

First thing to get is the mexi wraps. I'll order them tonight. I like the chain idea. I may go a little longer so I can wrap it around my anvils.
