I just went out and bought a 1200 mg Garlic supplement. Does it need to be a fresh clove?
I'd rather take my vegetables in pill form if possible.

Grip Work
I'm off work the next couple of days, and I suppose I should take it easy, which means I'll be doing some grip work tonight. I have a question about gripper training: I can close the thing really easy and fast until the last half an inch or so, then it just fails. Are there any assistance exercises that would improve my finishing strength on closing the gripper?

5 attempts at full closes, zero successes (10 minute rest between attempts)

adjusted tension so it was very difficult to clamp various things

Channel Locks
set them to the center setting so the handles were close together. 5 overcrushes

Impressions
Its coming along. I'm getting closer each time on the CoC. I figured the Channel locks would be a good way to train finishing grip strength until then. I didn't feel like dragging any weights upstairs to do any pinch work. I'll pick it up next time.
 
Strap holds with an easier gripper will help you through that last little bit, tie a weight to the end of a webbing strap or old belt and then shut the gripper round the other end, lift weight off floor using the gripper, hold for time.
 
Thanks for the tip. Will my old, plastic handled cheap gripper be enough, or should I spring for the #1.5?
 
Hose clamp the handles to the point where you get stuck and just work the close.....u can adjust how far u hose clamp the handles from like 1/4 inch to 1" from close or whatever u want....office depot sells plenty of sizes so should be no problem....

Yea I learned that lesson also a long time ago. I ordered a burrito in a hamburger place or was it a hamburger in a burrito place.....to make long story short....i had the worst case of food poisoning......diarrhea did not begin to describe what my asshole felt....or was that vomitting....to make matters worse i wasnt drunk when i was there and what I was eating tasted like shit....it was on a long drive back....from vegas i believe...could have been la....dont know....all i am thankful for is that i didnt shit in my buddies backseat....it started when i got home....
 
On further reflection, it doesn't feel like I pulled a muscle. I think I may have pinched a nerve. I can feel it my legs all the way down. I'll be going to the chiropractor tomorrow.

^^^That looks interesting, however, chiropractor is a friend of mine, so it only costs me a couple of beers for an adjustment.
 
Okay. This injury lets me know two things: One: I've probably been overtraining. Two: That is an excellent excuse to not work out for a couple of weeks. I'm going to focus on sub grappling, conditioning, etc for a little while. I'm pretty happy with my numbers right now. I'm going to give my back a rest, and my core a much deserved rest from the Zercher Hell I've put it through.
There are some fight teams around here, and I think its time I need to decide where I'm going with all of this. My current trainers, while good at what they do, aren't MMA trainers. If I'm going to fight, its about time to move on. If I'm not, then I'm going to take some time for myself to socialize (yeah, I met a girl, before you ask). So, we'll see how the coin flip goes. I leave most major decisions to pure chance, and this qualifies as one of those.
I'll still chime in occasionally if I do anything noteworthy (namely when I close that damned CoC #2) and keep up w/ everyone. Thanks again to those who've helped me so far. I'll be back in a month or so.

And it isnt just hippies. The next one is a biker hog roast, and the following one after that is...more hippies. Its a conference on herbal medicine. As soon as college starts, the party season picks back up. I've done burns for IU students before.

Hashbrowns at IHOP are good too. Anything "breakfast-ey" at IHOP will be edible, beyond that, well, that's when you start cupping your balls when you shit so you don't drool vomit onto 'em.

Deadlift: 405 x 5 (this will go up really soon)
Bench Press: 300
Zercher Squat: 315
Hack Squat: 350, probably closer to 375 now
Zercher Deadlift: 325
Push Press: 165, possibly 175 soon.

Goals:
Deadlift: 500 within one month. *w/ straps/ chalk* +25 lb
Bench Press: 325 before I die. +10 lbs
Zercher Squat: get some fucking sawhorses and do 350 or more within one month.
Hack Squat: 415 within one month +10 lbs
Zercher Deadlift: 405 within one month (primary goal) +30lbs

I just really didn't take into account how much of my energy was going towards firetending this month. I missed most of my goals, but mostly due to them just not being tried. These will remain my goals for when I come back.
