Media Figueiredo wants PPV points..

Nobody knows what fighters are paid outside of court cases where the contract and payouts are made public. Everything else is rumor and/or estimate or a guess.

Every number you just cited? Estimate/guess.

My 50k comment? Rumor coming out of several camps including the 2nd DJ fight for Cejudo. Apparently Dana promised him a big payday and it never materialized which is why he quit. Once he got the title shot others commented that it wasn't the first time a title shot was given to someone making 50k for the opportunity and it was apparently one of those deals the UFC had with one or more Managers.

Is it true? Maybe maybe not. It's plausible based on the UFC's strong arm tactics from the court case that's going on. Maybe in another 20 years we might get a case that will tell us.
The numbers I cited are not guesses. They are the payouts disclosed to the athletic commissions and the public.

Cejudo made 100k for the DJ fight (disclosed), and his last fight his disclosed pay was 350k. He wants more. Fine. But don’t quote 50k, it’s just way off. Again, Yana got 100k.

Thats fucked up. I thought if you headline a PPV you get points? His name was being used to get PPV buys he should have gotten a slice. Jesus who the fuck gets all the money?

Wtf I thought if you headlined a PPV especially if you're a champ you get PPV points? That's just fucked up.

His name was used to promote that shit and he gets no %? Its crazy how much money the UFC makes compared to how little these fighters make

Even if you get points, it’s points over a minimum threshold. If you don’t sell, you get zip.

For some fighters / cards it can make more sense to not get points.

I’d guess Fig is using his successes now (including a quick turnaround fight (and possible FOTY)) to push for better overall pay structure vs what he was working on.

that sounds totally reasonable. I'm sure it will come together. he did great work for them last year. they like fig.

People dont even realize you need to do above 200k for the points to even kick in. So you can have PPV points in your contract and you still dont make shit cause you arent a draw.

So they say forget the PPV points give me more upfront show/win or a bonus $ instead.

He'd need to be on a Conor or Jones/HW title fight card or a big NYC stacked show or July card that maybe does 400k to even make anything. And even then the typical PPV points contracts are nothing up to 200k. From 200-400k you get $1 per buy. From 400-600k you get $2 a buy and every buy after 600k you get $2.50 a buy.

Obviously for Conor or Khabib or maybe Jones they have different ppv deals but the standard one we've seen in contracts like Eddie Alvarez this is the payout.

Its just fucked up to me that a headliner in a PPV event who's name was used a lot in the promotion gets nothing in PPV revenue. It just don't seem right to me but thats how business in the UFC I guess.

Compare to PPV's in boxing, the main event fighters get the biggest slice of the pie.

A guy like figuerdo could never carry a boxing ppv. At least not yet.

No purse figures were disclosed so we don’t know who took home what from the event or who got the biggest slice.

I'm saying it's fucked up how his name was used promoting a PPV event he was headlining and he got no lick. Of course he can't headline a ppv in boxing he ain't a boxer

I actually thought every champ had mandatory PPV points.. (In the standard contract.) Doesnt really help most of the time anyhow though

Also depends on the PPV buys he brings in....Dont think he's exactly a big draw yet.

He can’t headline a ppv in boxing because he’s not popular enough. If he was a boxer and based on his current popularity.

His name was used. Tony’s name was used. Jds name was used. Jacare’s name was used. He got no lick of a ppv that likely didn’t sell a lot. He has some clout going forward and gained more fans.

Let’s see if he gets what he wants from here. I get it. He headlined a card and didn’t get a cut of how well it did (or didn’t do).

You know this is truly a bush league when a Champ headlining a PPV isn't paid PPV points. Which begs the question, how many champs like him don't get paid PPV points?
Just gotta say, thanks for more or less using begs the question correctly. It's a rare event of the likes of a total eclipse of the Sun. On the topic, gotta be a slap in the face for the champ of an org that calls itself Ultimate anything.

125 is not a drawing weight class for PPV. Figueredo is exciting to watch but Mighty Mouse was too. And MM spoke english.

You have to be in Asia to be a big draw in the tiny weight classes.

I heard this ESPN+ deal was screwing with the PPV points system. Don't care enough to look into it, mind you...

Bruh I'm not saying he is some star. I'm just saying I have a problem with how PPV headliners get no lick. Its the system that I'm saying its fucked up.

Who even said these guys can headline a PPV boxing. UFC makes money off of PPV buys no matter how much it is. It is just fucked up how the headliner in that PPV doesn't get any of that revenue.

Then he shouldn't be in a PPV headliner. I'm just saying the system is fucked up. The UFC makes revenue from PPV, its impossible for them to not get buys. I'm just feel sad that the headliner doesn't get a share off that no matter how little it might be.

He gets some of the revenue. They pay him from the revenue. He doesn’t share in the upside or downside from the revenue.

All good.

PPV revenue. The UFC make a lot of revenues from all over the place. I'm talking from the PPV revenue which is not difficult to figure out.

I'm talking from PPV revenue specifically. Not from merch, TV deals and ad revenues. I'm talking PPV revenue. PPV headliner should get automatic % no matter how little it is. Otherwise don't put in a headliner. That's just the fucked up thing I don't understand and kudos to the UFC for having the fighters by the balls
