Yeah, „add“ means basicslly negotiating a new contract.Would have had to be negotiated in when the contract was first written up his manager fucked him. I don't thin UFC just "adds" to contracts he's screwed until next time.
The thing is, my perception as someone outside of the US is that the PPV model as a whole is dying a slow death. Of course there are still attractions that will sell, but with the entire entertainment-industry switching over to streaming and their own subsctiption-based models I dont know how much Fig could squeeze out of these PPV points. I wouldn‘t be surprised if within the next decade fighters and champs will put pressure on the UFC to get percentages of these streams or atleast a percentage of the number of viewers during their fight. Not a union-type thing, more individual. If PPV really is going to die out, the UFC will likely be forced to make that switch. I dont know though so maybe you can tell me if its really trending that way.I don’t know his PPV numbers off hand, but I think he deserves it. But I think that model is dead save for the TOP guys. The UFC does get an undisclosed percentage of any PPVs sold above 500k, but they’re not trying to share that with every champ. All this complaining about fighter pay escalated after the ESPN deal because WME got even tighter with the money. It sucks for the fighters which is why the UFC shilling on Sherdog annoys the piss out of me.
This is worse than Cowboy fighting Conor under his regular contract. Who manages some of these guys.
MM:Deja vu all over again.
DJ defended his title 11 times before getting PPV points.
Champs get the choice. High Base pay and no PPV points or Lower Base pay and PPV Points. Obviously he is trying to double dip. He picked the high bonus pay and 2 fights in he wants PPV on top of it.
Figgy made less money for both his combined UFC 255 and 256 wins, than JDS made for his loss at UFC 256. shrug.Champs get the choice. High Base pay and no PPV points or Lower Base pay and PPV Points. no it doesn't...Yeah, „add“ means basicslly negotiating a new contract.
My bad i think it was Eddie Alvarez i am thinking of..https://nypost.com/2020/02/28/ufc-fighters-rage-over-low-pay-while-investors-reap-big-dividends/
The UFC also put The Post in touch with Cerrone’s manager, Josh Jones, vice president of sports marketing and entertainment firm KHI Management, who said Cerrone “got compensated tremendously. Multiple times more than $200,000, a lot more than $200,000.”
Thing with Alvarez is that when he signed his contract, they never envisioned he’d be headlining a card selling 1.3m ppv. He didn’t need to renegotiate. He made like $2m because he did have ppv points. My bad i think it was Eddie Alvarez i am thinking of..![]()
He could have got way more look at Nate. Eddie screwed himself out of a red panty night!Thing with Alvarez is that when he signed his contract, they never envisioned he’d be headlining a card selling 1.3m ppv. He didn’t need to renegotiate. He made like $2m because he did have ppv points.
I'm 100% sure before the ESPN deal they did. ESPN has ppv rights now. This is the exact reason why Brock didn't come back. Now very specific fighters I think still get it.Lol there goes the myth “Champs automatically get PPV points”
$2m was very much red panty for Eddie. He could have got way more look at Nate. Eddie screwed himself out of a red panty night!
No need to be short tempered about it. That's pretty low.Sounds like he got the short end of the stick, his manger came up small.
