Fighting Games Discussion

SNK games in general were pretty cheap. Magician Lord was a side scroller, but the difficulty was ridiculous.

SNK weren't the only ones doing this in the 90s even though they made some of the cheapest A.I. Other companies did the same just to suck the quarters out of your pocket, but the vast majority of games can be beaten once you learn the patterns.

I saw some poor fool spend about $20 trying to beat this clown only to be rewarded with a pic of his character and some text:

Its alot more noticable now. I was iat some barcade type place playing the old classics, and theres just no way to avoid hits in some of these games.

They can still be 1CC for the most part. The only ones that can't AFAIK are games with a constantly decreasing lifebar like Gauntlet and crappy shooting games like Revolution X. Unlike a good light gun game like say "House of the Dead", as soon as the enemies appear on the screen, they're already firing at you and there's no way to avoid it. The lifebar was more like a timer and it just wasn't fun.

Makes total sense and it's a brilliant move. Fighting games took the majority of my money (Time Crisis was a close #2nd) but that is where I found my love for Street Fighter.

Although I liked SF better overall, the best Fighting Game arcade experience I've ever had was playing the OG Killer Instinct. The entire arcade knew when someone was getting dumped on. It was the best.

based on this footage the hard knockdown is very short unlike sf4. Why do I give myself hope only to get bitterly disappointed ffs. It's like the developers there hate SF4 and want nothing to do with it.

I'm not watching anymore videos nor having any hope in anything Crapcom does I don't care if they reach SF19 I know the game they will make will not be for me......lesson learned rant ended.

Every new number in the SF franchise is very different from one another. They've always try to do something new, it's not out of hate or anything. But I don't know why you can't keep an open mind about the game at such an early state. Things are still subject to change. But why do you want long knockdown? Do you like throw loops and vortex? I personally find them very boring.

Yes I actually like strong oki/Vortex (personal preference) not getting any decent reward off a sweep or throw sucks balls. Also why the fuck do you have a hard knockdown label on the screen when it's not even true! you can even see a Justin wong video where he comments on that.

I'm bitter because I HATED sfv with a passion and had to wait years until they announced Sf6 but I should have known better.
I knew not to expect a reincarnation of sf4 but I was hopeful they went back to the alpha or cvs2 route or at least have a game with at least some of the elements that I liked in sf4 (pre usf4) which are.

1- Strong fireball/zoning game.
2- hard knockdowns for setups play.
3- satisfying link combos 2 frame and 1 frame.

None of these appear to be in the game, I think fundamentally capcom want to make games that are too casual friendly and I've lost trust that they will ever make an sf game to my liking.

I don't wanna poison the thread any longer with my bitterness, just needed to vent. Carry on sherbros.

You should definitely wait until more gameplay is released my dude. These are clips of a beta builds. The only thing I think we won’t get is 1-frame links but I’m positive there will be benefits to higher execution. We’ve already seen that with Guile’s booms.

Also, there’s is a roster full of people coming that will probably have a heavy mix up game. Hell, Akuma’s FB may cause a KD so there you go. Personally, I don’t want an over abundance of HKDs. Blender play is cool but holy hell it’s annoying if everyone could do that. SFV had a lot of that.

We may not share the same opinion about system mechanics but I can relate to the feeling when the new game isn't what you wish it to be. My favourite SF games were Alpha 3 and 3S, I couldn't really get into SF4 and 5 because I detest "comeback" mechanics because I look at them as the game reward you for playing poorly (getting damaged). So when I see that SF6 has toned down the comeback mechanic (lv3 super becoming more powerful at low health) I was a big fan of that. I think what will really make/break the game is still the netcode which we have no idea how it will pan out yet.

Time Crisis. Another good light gun game unlike the garbage that was Revolution X and Terminator 2. The best thing about KI was the sound, IMO.

Honestly, every fighting game is going to be more casual friendly. Look at Guilty Gear and KOF.

Time Crisis was such a fun game. Spent a lot of money on that one. And ya, T2 was total garbage. House of the dead was ok. Outside of FGs, I remember really liking Virtual-On, TMNT TIT, Wrestlemania and a few of the driving games.

Area 51 wasn't one of my favorites, but I remember it being pretty popular too. The crazy thing about Wrestlemania is that, unfortunately, half the roster is now deceased.

Oh ya, Area 51 was definitely popular. Almost every arcade had it. Wild to think about those guys. I watch some old YT wrestling stories once in a while. I have to limit it because my YT feed fills up with nothing but WWF stories.

It would be nice if Capcom decides to release a demo soon. Damn, this looks good.

I don't really watch that stuff, but I saw a video about a year ago featuring Francine from ECW and she looks great at 50.
