Fighting Games Discussion

Started playing Strive and it is the most fun I've with a fighting game in a long time. I love that I had no knowledge of how this game works before getting in. I was getting destroyed playing online today and really loving it. I could really feel myself getting better as each match progressed more than I have for any fighting game. If anyone is down for game whenever just let me know.
who you picking up in the game? I need to buy it and start playing some potemkin

Playing Faust. I always loved everything about him. A really good friend of mine who is one of the best GG players in the state mains him so that helped me.

This was ECT 2019 top 8 for XRD. He's Savior and I'm the dude in the white sailor hat cheering him on lol.

Potemkin is pretty ridiculous. For some reason he is a bit downplayed imo by the general public but in my eyes he's pretty obviously a top 5 character/top tier. He's not as easy to pick up as some of the other top tier but I think he has all the tools to beat everyone and he's also strong against most if not all the other top tiers.

This has become one of my favorite fighting games ever. It's amazing and the netcode is great too. I honestly didn't think I would be grinding a fighting game ever again after MK11 but I find myself playing Strive a lot and watching it a lot and just enjoying the game without being too salty about it lol.

Pretty much the same for me. ECT 2019 was my last hurrah for MK11 and then I Pretty much stopped after that, but seeing Strive really gave me the itch to play. I think all that time off from fighting games is what I needed. Now I'm enjoying Strive as much I did MKX which is probably my favorite fighting game of all time.

If i decide to get KOF, who is the ultimate Grapple team in that game?

There's still characters to be revealed for KOF XV so I wouldn't know. There's no Vice or Goro so far, but Clark, Shermie, King of Dinosaurs/The Griffin, Ramon, and Blue Mary are in. If the New Face team has their Orochi versions, then O. Yashiro will be another.

I'm willing to give Melty Blood a try since it's supposed to have rollback. Haven't played a Melty Blood game in forever.

Did anyone catch the recent JWong/Roundhouse 10K money match in MvC2? Been trying to find clips of it

I unfollowed a lot of FGC people on twitter because I couldn't handle the virtue signaling, but I did hear something about it from my San Diego friends. Do you know the backstory on it?

Haven't seen it but heard about it. 10k is insane lmao

FGC twitter is pretty terrible. I follow a lot of people mainly for videos and tournament type stuff but the drama, cancel culture and virtue signaling that happens every week is really obnoxious.

For reals man. I just couldn't stand it. Every single day there was something going on and people pretending to be this amazing person, giving everyone this wack advice like they're someone important and their words should be listened to only to end up as someone even worse. Tons of people like that in the FGC. 19 year olds trying to hook me up with life lessons. There are some cool people in the scene for sure. LI Joe seems cool, Yipes, my homie Pnoy etc. But generally, it's an annoying subculture.

I don't follow any of that stuff either. Most E-Sports outside of the actual games is fucking terrible to follow. All I know is that Roundhouse issued the challenge, both put down 5k, it was a first to 15 and JWong won comfortably 15-5.

Yep. Laying down 5k to play against the GOAT of MvC2 takes some serious balls.

was roundhouse a big name back in the day for MvC2? i only really know the names of Jwong, PR Balrog, Filipino champ, Chris G, Yipes and that's more on MvC3

Also, who are some the biggest name players you all have faced online or in person?

I follow certain players, I think the only FGC streams I watch is Sajam, Maximilian, and Smug. I mostly catch up on streams from their youtubes as well

Twitter will post some good clips here and there (i follow some gief players and certain a Alex player and they post some good stuff)
