News Fighters Removed: Javid Basharat, Alex Morono

15-2 Javid Basharat cut even after a recent impressive (I thought) win? Can someone explaining this to me? Despite his previous two losses, he's very high level. I could name 50 + male fighters on the current UFC roster worse than Javid. I don't get it.

Oh well, looking forward to watching him fight for PFL.
He's an extremely boring point fighter.
Don't tell me you thought he was exciting.

The other Basharat is a better fighter and has more charisma.

He wanted a retirement fight after the shellacking he just took, UFC obviously said no.

It's a sensible cut all things considered, dude's pretty much a punching bag nowadays and on a skid, served his purpose in terms of giving a TUF winner a name on his record
Even if it's true what you say, I don't think it's too obvious. Why should it be obvious? Him vs. Stephen Thompson would be a good one I'm down with. You wouldn't? Okay, okay, enjoy your WMMA, I guess. LOL

The UFC doesn't even bother to wait for a loss to cut guys they dislike, just the end of their contract.
Morono had no place in the UFC anymore so that one makes sense, guessing Price will be gone once his contract ends.

And then get rid of it.

WMMA sucks, point blank period.

The FLW division can get gone as well. The elites can move up to BW and the remainder can try their hand as horse jockeys.
As long as we're dumping HW while we're at it.

Why wouldn't it be obvious? His last two wins were McGee and Means, he's been winless since 2024, lost to Niko Price and dropped a 30-26 decision to a rookie as a big dog. He's trash nowadays and occupying a roster sppt that could go to actual talent.

Why would thinking that mean I watch WMMA?

15-2, he should have not been cut..

not to forget he is 4-2 in the UFC.. He is not as elite as Rinat but he is not a bum either and belongs here level wise

I thought the basahrat fight was good, his opponent missed weight by 5 pounds, but he gets to stay?

His opponent was a regional fighter who had never beaten anyone all that good and he stepped in on short notice. That's why he missed weight. I'm inclined to give dude's stepping in like that a bit of a pass. Bash also thought so or he wouldn't have accepted the fight with such a big miss.

When you're the big favorite and you're fighting a short notice regional guy like that, you're supposed to blow them away. Not have a pretty close fight where you get hurt and shit.

It showed what level Basharat is at. They were fine to cut him.

And we don't even know if Gianni even gets to stay. Plenty of times those short notice guys come in and lose, and then they're just quietly removed and go back to the regional org they were fighting in before. They very likely didn't sign him to a multiple fight contract or anything.

Morono was a dog and had a couple of solid wins, but he was the epitome of an unremarkable generalist. Never really got over the "Top 20" gatekeeper hump even at his best and his last few fights the wear-n-tear were obvious. It was about that time.

Javid... not really my favorite fighter to watch and the gaps in game were beginning to shine through, but he still has a solid promotional record and is good at winning fights. A bit early, in my opinion.

I wish I could say this surprised me, but I saw this coming when I taped his replacement opponent. Vasquez fights to the level of his competition and can for the most part compete everywhere. Predicably Javid doesn’t look great and is blamed for not finishing the “small regional guy” who in reality was the same size and who no one looks good against.

Javid always handled himself with a lot of class, despite public perception, so to see him discarded like this is unfortunate. Skill wise he is very high level imo, even if a bit underpowered for 135, so there’s no reason he can’t still build a good career outside the UFC and become a PFL or RIZIN champion.

You aren't wrong, I'm just a butthurt Cerrone fan.
I have never been so mad after a fight then after Cowboy completely rolled over for Conor one of the most pathetic performances I have ever seen or it was just straight up fixed. I was so fucking pissed at Cerrone and stopped being a fan after that. That and he had some personality traits and beliefs I didn't really agree with but always gave him a pass.

We'll always have the memory of Javid absolutely smashing that Oron Kahlon clown and making sure he never makes it.

Beautiful.

Yeah... if that wasn't a dive then it was the biggest break mentally. I didn't care to watch him fight much after.
