Fighters letting their opponent off the hook

Alvey couldve KOd Spann at the end of the 3rd had him hurt bad and then chose to clinch it out

Hubbard couldve finished Madsen too but didnt go for it and tried to time a knee for like 2 minutes lol

Prachnio was ready to go out early against Rountree and he just let him keep recovering and ended up losing the decision

Reem couldve probably TKOd Stipe with GNP after he dropped him he was almost gone but then went for the guillotine and ended up KOd himself a minute later

Soukhamthath had OMalleys leg completely destroyed, hopping on one leg and then started to wrestle him and ended up losing

Hendricks letting gsp off the ground after punching him silly in the 4th

I don’t know if there was even a few seconds of Silva bisping. But the most absurd would be Coleman not hurting takada in the worst positions and just putting himself in bad spots intentionally. and the commentary is hilarious as well.
and then shamrocks rear naked choke and kimbo isn’t even fighting hands for some reason.
so Ken turns it into a pro wrestling choke or maybe he was the whole time as it’s ridiculous Kimbo slowly reverses it by doing nothing and then knocks Ken out.

kimbo may as well hulked up and pumped his fist to get the crowd going before he gets his finisher

Palhares with his goldfish fight IQ vs Dan Miller

Thought he finished Dan Miller and stopped the fight himself

After the confusion and restart, almost got knocked out by Dan Miller (to be fair Palhares did win a decision
Kind of ironic that Palhares would try to stop the fight early, when his reputation is not letting go of subs even after the tap and the ref pulling him off.

This thread makes you appreciate the guys like Mark Hunt and Lyoto Machida that unceremoniously finished guys without a doubt or even the need for follow up shots....

That being said, Dan Henderson doesn’t approve of anything other than a stiffened corpse of a fallen opponent.

Also Thiago Alves was tearing Kampmann up on the feet, and then decided to let him off the hook by taking him down, and was promptly submitted

you can’t blame him for not letting go until the ref is pulling him. This happened in a bjj match as well.keep in mind he could have lost half of his income in all of Those sequences.

you have mercy people complain you don’t stop until the ref is doing his job. Complain. A

So you mean the buzzer went a off second later?? Not even including the cheap shot it obviously was. But you go back and re-watch it. You’ll see there wasn’t enough time left for Silva to do shit. It was the definition of a buzzer beater in the same vein as Machida/T Silva.

Cheap shot? Bisping tried to call a time out mid fight whilst backeed against the cage...

How do you guys think that Silva-Bisping round should be scored? Personally I think if someone has to be rescued by the bell it’s gotta be at least 10-8, I don’t care what happened beforehand.

He was effectively knocked out and saved by the bell. I was happy Bisping won, but he shouldn't have. Silva got the finish there and Herb Deans motion to come in was a factor in Silva going for the walk off.

Diaz V Conor 2. Nate took his foot of the gas to insure a 3rd multimillion $ payday. Hopefully he gets it

Colin “carried” by both Floyd and Nate confirmed.

Quit crying, you’ve already admitted you were wrong. What kind of upstanding fighter takes advantage of the mouth guard situation? Yes, it was legal, but cowardly nevertheless. Especially for a GOAT candidate. At least it wasn’t a blatant eyepoke like Jones fans love so much.

I guess it comes down to your own moral compass. Some of us have them in regards to sports. Some of you are lowlifes.
Yeah, how dare someone throw a legal strike during the course of a professional cage fight. A real man would have gotten Bispings attention when he was calling for his mouthpiece and asked if he was ready to get hit in the face.

I don't remember the guy's name who kept trying to take O'Malley down when his leg was so injured he could barely stand. Like, he couldn't even stand to do his post fight interview. Better get him to the mat, idiot!

Sue Cum Tot.

Or something like that.

Weidman going for a spinning kick on a hurt Rock hold, only to get taken down from it and smashed

For me the most egregious example of this is Anderson vs Ping. Anderson was half assing it the entire fight, and the one time he actually went for it he separated Ping from consciousness, but then proceeded to do nothing and walked off raising his arms as the final few seconds of the round ticked off. All he needed to do was throw two follow up punches and the ref stops that fight and Anderson get the win, hell Herb almost jumped in there to stop it even without the follow up. Just bizarre, and mind boggling, I don't know what Anderson was thinking there, for such a high IQ fighter this has to be the biggest brain fart of his career (yes even bigger than clowning against Weidman as that can at least be attributed to attempting to bait him as he's done to many others).

Another more recent one is Nate vs Leon Edwards. Not that I ever considered Nate a genius, but he's smart enough to know he was down big on the scorecards and that was the only daylight Leon showed him all night, and it was absolutely his last shot and snatching up a win from the jaws of defeat, but he just stands there pointing and giving Leon precious seconds to recover. I don't know if jumping on him right away would have got him a finish, but now we'll never know. Just lame.

Even more recent is Gane vs Ngannou. So they're tied 2 rounds a piece and it's the fifth. Gane gets Francis to the ground, is now winning the deciding round and has his very dangerous opponent in a position where he's least dangerous, and all he needs to do is maintain top position on a gassed out HW while he himself doesn't need to exert a whole lot of energy to do so, and he's HW champ. So what does this kickboxer decide to do at this point? Well he attempts a leglock, and loses position and spends the final minutes of the fight on the bottom which loses him the round. WTF?? To make matters worse this guy was touted for his fight IQ above all other things.

What are some others?
Silva, for such a legendary guy, probably has 2 of the most ludicrous fight IQ fails of all time.
Like WTF
