Does anyone know if any other UFC fighter has been hit with a surprise drug test like the one Alistair failed?

I can't think of any

EDIT: 6 of the fighters on that card were tested

The test Overeem failed was given to the ENTIRE card, not just himself (I think it was UFC 146 and it was after a press conference).

I think they usually only become news that gets reported when someone fails.

Every fighter is given a drug test post event. But if there is cause for suspicion prior to an event, a fighter may be given random drug tests.

This. There was a pic of JDS, Roy and Big Foot right after their tests. Unfortunately I can

I'm sure a lot of people end up taking them every now and again, including the whole 146 card, but we don't really hear about it unless someone fails like the cheater Overeem.

The only 3 fighters I can think of that ever had a random test in the UFC were Overeem, Carwin and Roy.

Sorry, I forgot the whole main card was tested. But has this happened in any other event before?

I know one person mentioned they do it if there is cause for suspicion. Would they not have had the surprise test if Alistair wasn't on the card?

I think they volunteered though, which is different.

Roy and Carwin volunteered as well.

BJ and Rory still had to take tests at random points in time, so I'm pretty sure that constitutes as "random drug testing"

I wonder if it happens more often and we just don't hear about it because most guys know how to pass the test and, more importantly, don't beeline out the door for their trucks trying to run away.

I googled UFC random drug test, and pretty much only UFC 146 stuff came up and the UFC policy on it

EDIT: thanks for the link though, I didn't know that the AC had random drug tests for MMA back then

it probably wouldn't have been done if Sherk hadn't failed a test earlier in his career. and for whatever reason they decided to do both.

the real answer to your question, i think, is that for many states (cuz it's different in every state) the AC's require random testing for those who have ever failed.

Would they not have had to take the tests if they didn't volunteer? I thought the Roy Carwin was from the AC, but the BJ Rory one wasn't and BJ was offering to pay for the tests during their talk fest leading up to the fight.

Ah, that's interesting. I think most don't know about other instances just because the UFC 146 random test made so much noise.

I thought Roy and Carwin volunteered to the AC but not VADA.
I could be wrong, this is all a mess lol

What a waste of fuckin time testing Roy fuckin Nelson
