Fighters at their absolute peak.

Ben Rothwell, last night.

He’s looking like a yoked wombat

Islam, Merab and Poatan right now
Ilia I think is yet to hit his peak (which is scary)

Jones in the early 2010s
Machida during Machida-era

Weight classes for sure have an impact. The lighter the weight class, the shorter the prime(lol). Blame it on the hard weight cuts, the requirement for high levels of speed/reaction time, and/or the injuries incurred from larger training partners. Shit adds up over time.

i think so too, though there are exceptions but I guess there will always be exception in a sport like MMA.

I remember things differently. In their first fight, Rua had clearly studied Machida's style and adopted a cautious strategy to counter it. Strategy is a fine thing, but following this one didn't require peak powers, and he officially lost the fight, even though many of us think he won.

In the rematch, he beat Machida to the punch, knocking him down, then benefited from Machida putting up a feckless defence on the ground. It was one moment when he landed before his opponent could that turned the tide in that fight; it's not like he landed five blows for every one of Machida's over five rounds. A good moment, well done, but I simply can't see it as a display of greater ability than he possessed in Pride.

It was a while ago so I can't say for sure, but him showing up in that fashion, I think, I think is his greatest performance.

He was phenomenal in his GP run yes, but I think outstriking Machida was more impressive.

Imagine if Shogun were to fight like that in his other fights?

Jones 2011-2015
Fedor pride
Usman peak
Cain peak
Cruz peak

everyone can come up with strategy but it's another to execute it. shogun executed it beautifuly.

second fight, early knock outs can happen. like his dad said, it could've easily gone the other way for them.

I just think, that was shogun's true final form before getting knocked around.

the final form of 05 gp's destruction and older Shogun's sophistication.

I think jones looked his best in the DC fight. He took an Undefeated former hw and made him look like just another guy

I think it was still Shogun fight. It was that or Shogun fight, but it's kinda like GSP against hendricks. Probably his toughest opponent, just like cormier was for Jones, but I think he looked best against fitch.

Frank looks washed up, I say that Rothwell would give him a run for his money if not beat him.
In the world of Bare Knuckle, Big Ben has never known defeat. Never known the bitter taste of loss.

DC looked his absolute best in the first Jones fight. Would have beaten any other fighter in the world on that night.
