Fight mileage vs age.

It's all a factor and it depends on what your skillset is. Some age better than others. Some people just genetically alow down sooner or pick up more injuries.

There's also a mental component. Guys like Rory/Rashad still looked physically capable, but they didn't seem to have a drive to win like in their younger days. Just seemed burnt out. Rose Namajunas looks like this as of late. Then you take a guy like Hendo, who had been in multiple wars, but was still willing to go 100% all out into his forties. Dude had fight of the year, an absolute 5 round war, with Shogun at the age of 41.

Other guys stop giving a shit and are showing up for a paycheck.

Mileage...by a mile.

Agreed. But I think the mental component has more to do with mileage than age.

And some guys are in it for the success and acolades. You can tell because once they become successful, they start trying to strategically win decisions. As opposed to freaks of nature like Hendo, who seems to just love to fight and bang.

Mileage, guys that start MMA young decline at a younger age in general especially if they fought high level competition early in their career fought often or had major injuries. Guys that fight later, don't have as many injuries and took a while to get to top competition and didn’t have early wars in their career declined at a later age.

Mileage is a bigger factor. Age is important under 185 lbs

43 seems like a hard cut off not matter what

When you have high age and mileage your definitely not prime. But people here act like that means a fighter always sucked cuz the game has progressed so much even though it hasn't much since 2010
