How do you see these two fights and wins? What was more interesting and impressive to you? I haven't seen mentions and comparison, but they have some things in common.

In general, when Khamzat won there was some talk how it was boring, very safe win, etc.. But to me, Khamzat did better than Makhachev, more impressive control, positions, takedowns, etc... It was more enjoyable to watch. Of course Makhachev dominated too, but somehow I find it less interesting.

Islam looked more impressive to me. Showed some impressive striking, especially leg kicks and body kicks. Also seemed to be searching for the finish more on the ground.

Khamzat won purely on grappling. He wanted no part of DDP on the feet.

Islam did great on the feet, Khamzat did not.
Also Khamzat got taken down and mounted at one point.

I see, good points, need to rewatch. Maybe Khamzat made it more impressive for me because of the opponent, how DDP was helpless and that crusifix was amazing.

Jack was trying a lot of things to get back to his feet, but just got shut down. DDP just defended the whole time on the mat. Islam couldn't do much because every time he tried, jack defended. Khamzat's couldn't do much because he didn't even really try to. He just got position and held.

Neither performance was particularly fun, but Islam and jack both showed a lot more than khamzat's and DDP did

Dad's of high school kids understand the game better than most of these camps and coaches. Who was my son's coach at the wrestling club? A USA world team member and one time NCAA champ (two time finalist). Who was his other coach? Two time NCAA D2 champ. Who was the third coach? A two time D3 NCAA champ. These coaches were all late twenties. He was able to wrestle these guys every damn day. It was awesome.

Why did I do this MMA coaches? Being in a room with killers matters. Send your guys to the proper room. I'm hoping after the lessons doled out to JDM and DDP that these guys have an epiphany. That epiphany being well shit, wrestling against the proper talent level does indeed matter.

Khamzat looked like a restless sleeper trying to get comfy in his bed the way he rested and wiggled on top of DDP the entire time.

DDP just laid there and took the molestation lol Pause.

Islam and Jack, however, had way more action on the feet and on the ground.

Khamzat was way more timid and scared the entire fight. He was too scared to try new things. Whereas Islam had no care or concern and was meticulously tiring Jack and breaking him down hunting for a submission the entire time.

Khamzat landed about 380+ more strikes, 7 more significant strikes.

Their standup (as little as it was) was also even-ish until round 5 where DDP did better.

DDP kept his fighting spirit alive, JDM lost his sometime in round 2.

Islam did far more damage taking out the lead leg very quickly, threw more GnP, and threatened heavily with his front head-lock choke series making Jack squirm

Khamzat did less damage but controlled his foe far more effectively as DDP couldn’t even scramble like Jack tried

Both performances were absolute master-classes but I would say Jack at least had Islam hanging on really hard to maintain some of those positions whereas Khamzat felt nothing under him

I just wish that Khamzat, with his dominating control, at least fished harder for a finishing move. I understand heavy GnP needs a bit of separation from your opponent and gives them a chance to scramble but hunting the neck not so much

I’d like Khamzat to have darce, anaconda, and arm-triangle series to compliment his RnC so that he can threaten more from strong positions like Islam can do

He does have 3 wins via brabo choke, including 2 in the UFC.

DDP is legit on the ground though, just doesn't have the wrestling of Khamzat. DDP is also a physical monster at MW and if you've never rolled with someone like that, it's damn near impossible to submit them as they often muscle out of sub attempts.
