World Cup 1986 is still GOAT for me. But this was close.

WC 82&86 are my Eternal GOAT. A soft spot for WC94 for Romario, Maradona last WC Goal against Greece, Roberto Baggio, Roger Milla, Hagi and Romanian side and the insanely great Brazil vs Holland quarter final.

And Muller couldn't score against "The better teams". Neither could Robben. Muller choked hard today, yet he's received no criticism and has even been suggested by others as being the best player of the competition.

I'm all for criticism and discussion, but it has to apply to everyone. The same people that are ardent that Messi isn't the best nor that he doesn't deserve the accolade apply standards to him that they do not to others, inherently elevating his position in their own rhetoric, ergo, inadvertently admitting he is indeed the best.

Messi is the best player in the world, of course the standards applied to him aren't the same as others, the same goes for Ronaldo. When they fail people love to shit on them the first opportunity they get, it's just the way it goes.

I'm not saying he deserved it, I'm just saying the reasons people are giving for him not deserving it are pretty short-sided.

Look how upset and emotional you are at the concept of the only offensively efficient player on the world cup runners up could possibly be the best player of the competition.

You just said someone who is on a 5 game scoring drought should win over him.

*short-sighted

Feel bad for Messi.

Great player, better person.

Only reason people shit on him is the retards calling him the GOAT.

I have no proble with Messi at all, somehow seems like the exception to the rules.

Argentina fans on the other hand....

USA 94 is still just ahead IMO.
I was an extra in a hooligan flick titled "The Brits Have Landed" the year before that., Filmed in LA.

Suffice to say Bergkamp & Koeman retired my fledgling movie star career.
