They scored 13 goals and conceded 4, 2 to France. They got narrowly beat by the team that's probably going to win the tournament. If not for the draw they would have made the semis or finals just like they did in 18 and 20. So no this team was really good just like the 70,86 and 02 teams were.

Like all those teams they just happened to run into the best team(or in 86s case best player) early. They were not "dreadful".

But yeah the Moroccans haven't succeeded with the players born overseas before right now. They made one final in 2004. This performance is still out of the blue.

But yeah given Moroccos location the idea that many Moroccans would live in Western Europe makes a lot of sense.

Also lets say a player of Moroccan descent is born in France and can't make the team or would ride the bench? Why would they choose to play for France? Players with dual identitys want to play international soccer so a lot are going to pick the national team where they are more likely to play.

And yeah I said in an earlier post if you don't score in open play you don't deserve to win. But they played well. They almost beat the best team in the tournament. None of those 4 teams were trash btw. It was the first round. On paper Senegals better than Morocco.
