I´ve played football/soccer for about 15 years in my youth and one thing I never understood is why people are so averse to the mental "warfare" game. That's what I like about combat sports. Playing with an opponent's mind is much less frowned upon. Me as a tall striker loved playing rough and being annoying, talking a little shit every now and then just to get the other side to target me and lose their focus. Good. Makes the job for my team easier. But it's almost always received as some kind of disrespect. What disrespect? We're trying to win a game here and using all the tools available to do so. But even if I talked a lot of shit I'd help my opponents up if they were challenged and fouled upon. After the game was over, all of that was done though and we were back to being normal citizens.

Being a character makes the game way more interesting. Not enough characters in football nowadays. It's all been pussified and wiped clean.
