Better Movement, Speed & Cardio Than Khabib

The only thing that matters is can he crack Khabib hard enough to keep him from walking through and clinching him. Doesn't matter if he has a good chin, and a decent jab, what you have to be is impossible to take down, and impossible to keep down, neither of which was cited with so-called "proof."

I actually think that in some ways Conor is a worse matchup for Khabib. In theory Tony should be better and sprawling and brawling, but in reality Khabib is rag dolled some good wrestlers who you'd think would have done better at stopping the takedown.

A couple big things against the Conor is a bigger challenge idea though are that Conor is likely to ragdolled hardest in the first round when he's most dangerous and Conor is most effective when he can utilize spin kicks as his jab and that could essentially be just presenting a leg for Khabib.

Ferguson is too willing to go for crazy subs, he can try that vs Khabib and put himself in bad positions.. it just wont work. Ferguson is a great grappler, but I really think that Khabib would take him down and control him. It wouldn't be easy, but Ferguson does have his weaknesses too. Even Lee managed to pass his guard and get to mount without much trouble. Of course he tired, but he was doing fine up until that point.

Tony's love of rolling for subs and often pulling guard for them is something he can't do with Khabib. Castillo survived his d'arce to get on top then blocked the rolling knee bar to get on top in the next round. Then Danny just outwrestled him in the 3rd and had the mounted in the final minute while locking in an arm triangle with 10 seconds left. Abel also outwrestled Tony before he gassed and got subbed, similar to Lee.

Ehhh if Kevin Lee can mount and pound Ferguson I'd hate to think what Khabib would do...
Best fighter in the division but still not good enough to deal with Khabibs wrestling for 5 rounds imo.

He let Lee get that transition imo. Instead of wasting energy at the end of round trying to fight it off.

Not sure. Think Khabib is a bad match-up for the whole division. His grappling and ground and pound is sick. Just hope this fight happens. Seems like I have been waiting on this one for years...

Let Lee get full mount with 30 seconds left in a title fight? Besides, he was taken down several times and has been in past fights. He has good bottom game, just don't think its enough to stop the Khebab.

I know I'm gonna sound like a hater, but I don't think Khabib is that much of a high level wrestler. Mainly due to his sambo. He has a very similar takedown style to Jacare. They just impose their will on guys, and force them down.

Unlike someone like Weidman or Jones, who run the pipe CORRECTLY, and can mix it up for high clinch to a double leg very fast.

That's not taking anything away from Khabib's wrestling. I just think he's extremely strong for the division. I don't think his wrestling is that high level.

If kevin lee dealing with staph could take down ferg at will for 3 rounds what will a healthy khabib do.

He's the toughest matchup for sure, but in order to beat Khabib has to execute everything as near perfect as he can in order to win. Would love to see the two fighters at 155 compete, but it should not be for an "interim" belt.

It goes both ways. Tony is insanely scrappy and creative. Khabib has to execute his gameplan perfect too. One error and he can get caught.

Tony is such a dirty fighter. Illegal upkicks, eye pokes, glove grabs, etc etc. Hes going to get his comeuppance when he fights Khabib. None of this shit will have any bearing.

Tony looked like shit in his last fight. He was fighting a guy battling a staph infection yet it was Tony who looked sick, out of it and not like himself. He may have gotten a solid victory but I saw more holes in that fight than I've seen in Tony's whole career. Khabib mauls him.

Khabib will be put in danger almost everywhere he takes the fight. On the feet, Ferguson has a longer reach, more power and more tools. I the clinch and close quarters, Ferguson uses nasty elbows and knees.
On the ground Ferguson has nasty subs, especially his guillotine, darce and anaconda.

Tony would've won this fight.

What a shame he fucked up his knee on some cords.... hopefully he will have full recovery and they book it for 5th time.

Tony isn't Al.

Nothing that happened tonight showed me that Tony could get up with Khabib on top. Nothing about tonight showed that Tony could keep Khabib from passing his guard.

People act like Al Iaquinta is a shitty grappler.

Khabib isn't invincible, and you should have known that already, but he is damn effective at winning MMA bouts.

Khabib looked surprisingly fast tonight.... maybe Al was just slow and tired.

Anyone thinking that any LW is going to walk thru Khabib is crazy and likely a hater.

I think there is a way to beat Khabib and it is coming forward, keeping him on his heels but it will be easier said than done and take someone with elite TDD if not elite all around wrestling/grappling AND great cardio AND punching power AND the ability to throw combos.

It is a tall order.

Once again, look at his reaction time to when his back is taken.

There's more than one move in MMA.

Al has excellent TDD and a much more controlled, orthodox style, Tony is wild and is frequently out of position, he is much more prone to be taken down.

Tony and Al have completely different styles.

Also.... Tony and Khabib are never going to fight. That fight is simply not meant to happen, and I sincerely doubt the UFC would book it again or put money into promoting it.
