West Point is investigating a photo that shows 16 black female cadets in uniform displaying raised fists outside a U.S. Military Academy barracks.

“We can confirm that the cadets in this photo are members of the U.S. Military Academy's Class of 2016,” said West Point’s director of public affairs Lt. Col. Christopher Kasker in an emailed statement. “Academy officials are conducting an inquiry into the matter."While many details are unknown about the photo, the image has been shared widely in military circles, with claims the women are supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.

Lol. The Army is one branch of the of our society that you'll never see publicly apologize for jack shit. There is no way that BLM bullshit will even come close to going over in those ranks.

I can just see how that would go now: Someone asks a public affairs officer about it " I am not authorized to make a statement on that subject." Ask literally anyone else: " You would need to talk to the Public Affairs Officer about that."

edit: you arent supposed to support political movements in uniform. I seriously doubt that they will be punished though, because of the political climate.

Depends if that cuckold Ash Carter gets involved, if he does expect lots of apologies.

Id feel great if i was a white person and one of these officers comes on base and is in charge of my career and i have to report to one of them.

What woukd be awesome is if the were to be assigned to the MP units

Oh they will be punished, it just won't be through official channels. Was an incredibly stupid thing to do.

The raised fist in African American culture could be watered down currently due to hysterical ass BLM but in many ways it's pretty relevant to the situation.

The US military has had a pretty terrible history involving treatment of African Americans. A raised fist meaning we have overcame isn't that terrible of a thing is it?

From African Americans being used for experiments to a group of girls working to become officers, no reason they shouldn't be proud of where they are.

Since when does it mean "we have overcome"? I thought it was a sign of defiance. Those guys in the Olympics sure weren't raising it in celebration of having overcome anything.

I would've expected something a little more racy.

Do people really still say "African American"?

Overcoming racial prejudice to succeed is more or less defiance is it not? And certainly you agree that the US military has a couple black spots on their record concerning this.

First you are not supposed to make political statements in uniform (which is the big problem here) and even not in uniform you are limited to what statements.

This infraction could be cause for punishment including dismissal (dismissal is not going to happen).

This would be no different then a group of white officers in uniform hold up signs supporting Trump and saying build the fence to keep the rapist out.

If they got even a slight problem through unofficial channels, it would get reported as a racial incident. any issue for the rest of their careers will have to be meticulous to show otherwise.

It changes so often, its hard to keep up.

I remember them teaching us in elementary school that "black" was inappropriate because it referred to their skin, and people are more of than just their skin, so it should be "African American".
But we were also taught that "colored" was almost as bad as ":eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:", yet now it has come full circle and "people of color" is the preferred term.

In 20 years, "people of color" will be considered a vile, antiquated term, and "citizens of African Heritage" will probably be in vogue.

In just sticking with "black". Not all black people are Americans. So African American dosent work for me.

I got enough shit on my plate already to think of creative ways to describe people, I've never been in a situation where simply saying "black" didn't work.

You know Mike??? Which mike??? You know, black mike....oh yeah sure I know him....

I'm guessing you've never done a google search on the term "Army Apologizes" before? I'd recommend not doing so. It might burst a bubble.
