Undefeated 12-0 (well, 11-1 with a DQ) 22 year old UFC debut, these are the guys you want to build up and turn into the next euro star. What does UFC do? Feeds him to beast veteran Misha Cirkunov on the bottom of a fight night card. This is an extremely tall order that, should he win, will not get the praise it would deserve.

I agree, this match up is sort of perplexing.

Ion should get another new guy or someone on their way out. Misha really should be tested with someone known whose had a rough past 2-3 fights. Both of these guys in this fight are on their way up and a win does little but a loss does a lot.

Ok bumping thread because this is the most interesting fight on the card. I predicted Cirkunov to be the Jones killer a long time ago, but I have heard others call Cutelaba the next Fedor. Who's it gona be?

the wolves went starving when barberena beat alves.

Cirkunov is not a veteran by any means. Yes it's a tough debut but it's not like he's getting a top 25 opponent.

Also Misha has massive holes in his striking. I expect him to be a good lhw, lower top ten, but never an elite lhw.

Btw Cutelaba is also the toughest opponent Cirkunov has ever faced.

Ion hasn't fought in the UFC so how can he be judged?

Yeah, shit matchup considering the state of LHW.

This Ion guy seems to have crushed cans for the most part of his career but it's quite impressive how fast and tenacious his finishes are, definitely a sight to see.

I have Cirkunov by sub but wouldn't be shook if Cutelaba destroys him either

Lol what? Yes nothing pre Ufc can ever be analysed. Fedor is probably actually worse than Christian More craft seeing how More craft has Ufc wins and Fedor has none

UFC is a different animal. Guys like Cirkunov were champs in previous orgs.

Misha Cirkunov is not 'the wolves'. Glover, Gustafsson, OSP and Bader are the wolves. Cirkunov is similar to Cutelaba, a talented and interesting up-and-comer. It was a good scrap, Ion's pretty well-rounded for a young Moldovan. Looking forward to see both again.

They didn't look similar at all. Cutelaba was throwing wild rights while Cirkunov utilized a jab to set up his left cross. Cutelaba had one pace, fast, while Cirkunov started fast, slowed the fight down, then went for the kill. That was veteran stuff. Not to mention Cirkonov's superman punch with submission follow up? Next level.

I think Cirkonov beats all of the guys you mentioned and hope he gets to face a name next outing.
