I think Fedor is a favorite against Frank Mir. I think Emelianenko will win. This is how I see the fight: in the first round Fedor will move around and "shoot up" Mir with some striking, Mir will try to clinch with Fedor and smother him with weight and size advantage. I think that Mir will be knocked out in the second or third round. Mirs submission game? Fedor is an experienced fighter, he won't get caught.

I don't know really... Frank could only be a threat to Fedor on the ground. If Emelianenko looses this fight then he should retire. Sure he can fight another couple of fights like this, but who want to see that.

Alexander Shlemenko (Ex. Bellator MW Champion, now M-1 fighter)

I watched Mir's fights and remembered that he knocked out Todd Duffy with one punch and Mirko Filipovic, which indicates that he has decent striking. I also analyzed Mir's ground game, he feel great on the ground, a lot better then standing. Just think back about his crazy submission of Nogueira and Nogueira is a BJJ master.

To Fedor's advantage are his speed and his fighting activity, that he has had more fights during the last years. Speed and endurance are keys to victory for Fedor. If this fight goes past the first round Fedor's victory chances rise.

If Emelianenko knocks Mir out in the first round, he will be a favorite to win the Grand Prix in my oppinion. I don't see super dangerous opponents in there... Mir is one of the Favorites in the Grand Prix.

Mir is a beatable opponent, judging by his last performances is UFC. Fedor has been fighting for the last two years and Mir has not, that's why he has a better chance of winning. If Mir's team has a game plan to tangle Fedor up in the clinch and pinch him up against the cage he has a better shot of winning. In these areas Mir might have and advantage.

Vitaly Minakov (Ex. Bellator HW Champion, now FNG fighter)

In this sport everything depends on how motivated you are. You can always train up your physical conditioning. Sasha (Aleks) Emelianenko for instance is in the best shape of his life at the moment. So everything depends on Fedor and how he prepares. All these years he showed the highest class and I'm sure he will shake things up a couple of times more. But even if he doesn't win, he will still remain one of the greatest. For me he will be GOAT for ever.

POST YOUR PREDICTIONS:

Winner, Round and How it ends.

Also.. Predict Grand Prix Finals + Winner
Chael Sonnen + Mitrione have won their fights.

Lol at Mir only a threat to Fedor on the ground
Mir is better everywhere

Shlemenko must not remember those bouts. Mir-Duffe was one of the sloppiest affairs in the heavyweight division and the Mirko was a knee-out-of-nowhere after 3 rounds of them staring at each other.

But honestly... it seems not even fighters are aware of just how much Fedor's skills have calcified over the years.

What's your prediction.

Mir shocks the world and KO's Fedor in the first round.

Either a straight up KO, or a hard knockdown/flash KO followed up by a choke, ala Kongo fight.

1 round punch KO. I'd say 60% chance Mir takes it.

But honestly -- both fighters are only interesting due to nostalgic value these days. It's sad to say, but they just don't have it in them anymore.

I have Mir by knockout. And it’s gonna hurt bad to watch it.

I just watched Maldonado fight again and I agree with you. But Mir hasn't been in the cage for 2 years.
Everyone in that Grand Prix is a senior to be fair and none of them are in their prime.

Great recognise great. Minakov knows what's up.

Minakov is great. To bad he fell out with Bellator and can't go to UFC since he is tied down by his Bellator contract.

What's your prediction?
