It is interesting that he showed that technique. Jason Mcdonald should have done that last night to Maia
Thank you for your opinion. I am trying to find principles and grapple along those principles. According to my experience, fights I saw and opinion from more experienced fighters i kind of decided to follow the principle to not wrap my arm around sby's neck while mounting except if I can use my shoulder to press on his face and control his arm with my free arm (even then i dont trust it too much)
that being said I am very interested by your answer. Also i saw some BJJ instructional showing that wrap. Could you tell me which round and when in the fight you saw that? I will check it out.
thank you forehand
laurent
2nd round with about 1:15 left. McDonald did upa at that point however and got back to half guard.
EDIT: Just watched the fight again. He actually does it a lot during the 2nd round.

Awesome, an upa.
It's failry easy to counter that escape. You just have to balance yourself with the leg on the side you're being rolled to.
lol does that make sense to anyone? My english is getting rusty
Yup, seriously, I'm AMAZED it took this long for anyone to catch on that he's not showing the technique properly.
BACK TO BASICS but i like it when fedor teaches i feel empowered :icon_twis
Properly, by whose judgement? Wanna go tell Fedor that he doesn't know his shit? :icon_twis
Correct, he does not show this technique properly. Just because he's the best MMA fighter ever, and he's a physical beast, doesn't mean that he has the best technique for certain moves. In this case, he leaves out a major key to making this move work, so unless you're Fedor, you might not be able to get it to go the way he does. :icon_conf
What does he miss in particular? I attended the seminar and tried this move myself. With proper hip motion and locking the arm exactly as Fedor shows you, you're almost guaranteed to reverse your opponent. My partner was a guy who weighted over 10 kilos more than me and I was still able to execute the move, even though he passively resisted it.
This video seems interesting. I would be more inclined to buy it though if it was sold through a established internet store like Budovideos then just some random paypal address in Slovakia.
