I've thought that for ages. And with Heavyweight standards, he wasn't even big. His skill, speed, and power won his fights..when he was in his prime the fight i.q was amazing but he would always risk to go for the kill (Fedor doesn't run, he fires back no matter who the giant is). If he fought Werdum like Nog 3 I think he would've won. You can even hear Bas commentating the Cro-Cop fight that he's a master game planner. There is no pfp. There's one man and it aint Jones or McGregor. Come one come all. HW is the most prestigious title, always has been. Anderson, Gsp, Aldo, Conor..even Jones(I think prime Fedor matches up perfectly, toss jones and gnp then probably a sub) There can be only one greatest, and that was Fedor for 10 years at Hw. I wish Jones would try his hand at Hw but you gotta cut that weight

Possibly cut stoppage I agree. The chances though are low before Prime Fedor ends it, especially in a ring. He's had 3 cut stoppages in his career? It's a possibility but a small one. Can't see Jones mounting a larger Fedor. Could do it in the stand up but I find the odds to be low before it ends.

Even if he looked slower/less explosive/weaker, a more methodical Fedor may have won all the 3 fights he lost, instead he's gone all brawler

Jumped into FW trap(twice), treated Bigfoot like if he was just another freakshow to punch, got super (and a bit unlucky) careless against Hendo

A focused and a little bit humble Fedor will have likely won Werdum and Hendo fights, the BF one i don't know, just because i think Fedor was never been a td defense wizard and that have on the ground a skilled gorilla like that over you will ever be a problem.
I actually think that Fedor defended very good and in fact was'nt finished, problem is if with a different mindset he was able or not to end up there

I WANT to believe, but if Fedor does'nt understand that his physical peak is past and that need to respect humans now that he lost superpowers and is one of them, i can't be too optimistic :icon_chee

Against peak Fedor his only chance would be a cut stoppage, against latter Fedor maybe a sub although it wouldn't be easy.

Generally though I do think Fedor is a bad matchup for Jones, moreso than Cormier who doesn't have the same ability to land big punches from mid range and lesser boxing defence.

We've seen Jones never really was the monster wrestler he was made out to be, he did well against guys like Bonnar and a latter Shogun not known for their takedown defence, he couldn't do anything to Gus.
