My guess is that because he didnt have to train for fighting anymore (but for sure still did something every now and then), he did way more weight lifting (ect.) as before.

People are shocked because he hasn't looked like that since he was in his prime smashing people. He had let himself go physically and mentally and I don't think anyone expected him to get back to this type of shape.

i think he also understands the reason for his shitty performance in strikeforce was that he got too big of an ego (im assuming) and wasnt training properly. He looked fat in his strikeforce fights.
