Fedor Emelianenko: Russian Hook & overhand right

Awful striking is not the correct term. But neither are technical striking. there are so many factor that made Fedor the great fighter.

His speed, agression, power, cardio, and fight IQ made him the beast he was in Pride.

Arlovski did outstrike him before doing the most retarded choice ever when he did that wild flying knee. Then Fedors power and timing won him the fight by a nice haymaker.

Wanderlei? when did he fight him? And did he not submitt Hunt?

IMO his fight against Cro Cop was his best striking ever. That was a amazing fight.

Yeah my fault

you are correct

Is he going to have the speed and explosiveness to do that now that he is older and 3yrs or so retired.

Wrong forum. Either put it in Striking Technique or Worldwide MMA.

Arlovski outstriking him before the ko is a myth. Andrei landed some low kicks but that was pretty much it. Fedor was stalking him and, if anything, Fedor was the one who got some shots in before brutally taking Andrei's head off:

And even if you want to say Arlovski outstruck Fedor before the ko, I'll say Fedor outstruck Hendo before the ko, because he did -- he dropped Hendo, which is what led to the scramble that allowed Hendo to sneak in his flash ko

Wanderlei was a brain fart. For some reason I was thinking of Cro Cop

I'm a bit too pissed off at the moment to appreciate his great technique. Maybe in a month or so.

Another day, another retarded post from faustian.

Significant strikes:
Hendo - 22
Fedor - 7

Arlovski - 15
Fedor - 5

Always making excuses for Fedor. So delusional you thought he fought Wanderlei.

Both sides of the debate are essentially correct.

Fedor's striking did look terrible at times technique wise. He did not use striking that fit the mold of what a highly technical striker would use or coach to others.

But, what Fedor had was exceptional timing, aggression, and fight IQ, which allowed him to use his unorthodox striking very skillfully. He was very skilled at seeing the openings to engage with his preferred techniques (lunging hooks, overhands and casting punches), and he was very aggressive with them, and had a good finishing instinct, as well as a unique eye for converting almost 100% of failed striking engagements into takedowns and clinches.

Calling his striking anything other than exceptional would be foolish due to his repeated success with it. But yes, it was also very wild and sloppy, and not what you would typically call "technical". However, he applied his wild techniques very technically in terms of timing, so it's hard to say he wasn't technical.

Understand?

This whole ''russian hook'' thing is retarded. They don't purposely throw like that.

You're retarded. It's not a coincidence that so many people do it. Go watch some Sambo.

There are even some that throw a shovel hook in western boxing. They do it intentionally. Check out naseem hamed.

You don't know shit, pleb

I'll buy wild, but not sloppy

I've watched the fights. That doesn't disprove what I just posted. Those are official statistics, kid. Why can't you handle being wrong? :icon_lol:

lmao @ official statistics. As if a thing exists in MMA. "Significant strikes" lol

Anyways I refuse to waste time going in circles again with the most laughed at poster in the Heavies

Great technique? You mean lunging wild sloppy punches with your chin up? 😃 Dude makes Ronda look like Maywheather

Not that it matters though. MMA isn't boxing and most MMA fighters have flawed boxing technique. What matters is "effective striking" and Fedor has just as effective striking as anyone.

Watch the combinations against Goodridge, that's the definition of sloppy.

Fedor benefited from the threat of the clinch in the same way that Rousey does. They charge with aggression and wild strikes to throw off an opponent (either land a damaging strike or catch them off balance) to achieve the clinch in which they'd transition to a takedown. There weren't many fighters that could keep Fedor at bay by establishing a good jab or lateral movement which made him so successful.

It was either take a barrage of wild hooks or get thrown on your ass.

Look at you fumbling around here

It's pathetic that you refuse to accept anything other than FEDOR IS GOD!!!!!

And now you divert from the original argument (as always) due to you getting wrecked. Just delete your account already.

Is the definition of a russian hook that you A) Leap in and B) Doesn't land with you two knuckles but rather the left inside part of your hand(if you are orthodox)?

Your "official statistics" have Hendo landing 22 sig strikes in a fight that lasted 48 seconds. Sounds legit lmao. Watch the actual fight and you'll see Fedor drop Hendo.

Again, I'm done with you unless you feed me more to besmirch you with

Yep. I'll agree with wild, as in: Fedor threw accurate, well-timed, hard, and wild strikes.

But his striking was only very rarely sloppy, especially until the late part of his career.

Hendo also hurt Fedor on the feet early in the fight lol and then proceeded to knock him the fuck out after Fedor got... you guessed... SLOPPY. He oustruck Fedor and Arlovski was outstriking Fedor before the KO.

You've already been dealt with and quite easily at that. Like I said, you should just save face and delete your account. It's not even fun to humiliate you anymore.
