Yeah, JDS had great TDD as well, but for all the talk of his BJJ black belt he never did much on those occasions when he was taken down. He had good footwork and boxing though for sure. I’m a big JDS fan, and would never want to disparage his career, he has a great resume. But def not better than Fedor’s.JDS was fairly one-dimensional, especially for a Brazilian fighter. In his prime he had great hands, plenty of power, and decent movement. Fedor had ALL of these things, plus great takedowns, grappling ability, and submissions. His technical abilities were vast, beyond everybody else's, which is why GSP called him the best.
My little back and forth with my friend Fioretti earlier is because last time we chatted, he was going on about the significance of JDS having (allegedly) more ranked wins than Fedor, in fewer fights. So I took the time to actually pull up all the rankings from the time period, and proved that wasn’t the case.
