I don't understand why anybody cares about this. Does anyone think there is a scenario where Trump wants to fire Mueller but hold onto Rosenstein?

I would expect him to fire Rosenstein (because Rosenstein isn't going to fire Mueller) then Trump will put a Trumper in there to fire Mueller.

It would be a *nearly* unprecedented political shitstorm and if there were no uproar like there was with Nixon that also would be significant. It's all on the table at this point

Word is Trump canceled his Peru trip to rearrange the DOJ. Suspect something to occur Friday night.

@TheComebackKid So how are you going to pin this on liberals?

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein personally gave the green light for the FBI to raid the hotel room and office of President Donald Trump’s longtime lawyer Michael Cohen on Monday, The New York Times first reported.

Rosenstein oversees special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russia’s role in the 2016 election. The Cohen raid came, in part, from a referral from Mueller’s team.

The raid was executed by the office of the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York. The man running that office, interim U.S. attorney Geoffrey Berman, is a Trump appointee whom the president personally met with when he was up for the job. Berman also donated $5,400 to Trump’s presidential campaign.

ABC News reported Tuesday that Berman, however, has been recused from the Cohen matter.

That is what a special counsel does. Trump set himself up when he fired Comey and commented about how he did it because of the Russia investigation.

Special counsels have a broad range of scope. Remember, the ken Starr special investigation of Clinton started out as a real estate investigation and when nothing was found there it evolved into Bill shooting man chowder on Monica's dress. IF Bill had just admitted it, there would have been no crime, but he perjured himself and there were people that were calling for his head.

Trump is the kind of guy that will have all kinds of skeletons in the closet and if Mueller wants to go looking for them, it's within his powers. So the morale of the story kids, don't set things up so you have a special investigator after you.

Sad fact is, if Trump had just left it in Comey's hands you'd probably have Flynn, Manafort and maybe Gates on the hook but the rest of them probably would have gotten off or at the worst Trump would have had a formal censure on his record, but unfortunately Trump has a very poor understanding of basic civics and he dug his own hole.

I wouldn't be surprised that him making the statement on air force one the other day about the payment "you'll need to talk to Cohen, he's my attorney" was the final straw for the FBI to pull the trigger, that FBI team raid was weeks in the making, so right after Trump makes that statement, which works great for a private citizen trying to avoid a question but not for a politician, he may have just sealed Cohens' fate.

I think you've been watching too much MSNBC. There's nothing illegal about filling out a DND; there's nothing illegal about lying to the press about who made it or knows about it.

What ever this is, is something that Mueller ran across by chance.

A description of Trump’s penis should be in the final report.
