Platoon just edged out FMJ for me mostly because I preferred the basic training setting of FMJ the actual Viet Nam setting in that film.

FMJ for rewatchablility though.

We Were Soldiers a solid 3rd behind.

Man

Apocalypse Now is better than Full Metal Jacket for me.

I might like Deer Hunter better too.

Cant REALLY GO WRONG either way though.

A toss up between Full Metal Jacket and Deer Hunter IMO.

Plus its not a Vietnam war film. Gump is about a low level IQ man's adventure throughout life where as the films in the poll are all centered around and in viet freakin nam.
It takes place during the Vietnam war era and Vietnam looms large over the whole story. It's enough for me. And also a great fucking movie.

R. Lee Ermey's "The Siege of Firebase Gloria" is an honorable mention.

Platoon.
A lot of things going on there. Plus that performance of Sgt Barnes is one of my all time favourites

That's a tough one, probably FMJ just, but I'd say Apoc Now is a better film, greater certainly. If I had a top 100 all time list, AN would be much higher than FMJ. But as a straight Vietnam movie, Jacket edges it for me
Apocalypse is one of those movies 4K was made for
Good Morning Vietnam & Tigerland would be up there

Went with Platoon. Deer Hunter is too damn long for me. And as much as I like Chuck Norris the whole MIA series was dumb.

All good and kinda hard to pick.

Born on the fourth of July makes me sad like very few movies ever have.

I dont even consider Apocalypse Now a war movie. More of a psychological drama. Full Metal Jacket is probably the best overall Vietnam War flick while Platoon definitely embodied the horrors of Vietnam on the ground level better than either.

Full Metal Jacket.

Platoon was a very close second, and I've voted for it in any poll that didn't include FMJ.

This. As far as straight Vietnam War films it's between FMJ and Platoon and I voted FMJ by a hair. Apocalypse Now is a great flick but more a psychological drama.

Platoon for me, Barnes performance was one of the GOATs.
