Full metal jacket made me want to be a Marine. Great movie

Hamburger Hill because it was brutal. Later I learned that taking over the hills from the enemy were pointless as they were later abandoned <Huh2>
War of attrition, I think it's demoralizing to US soldiers to fight this way. It was a war designed to consume resources and make the right people money.
We were soldiers was amazing too.

The answer is Apocalypse Now and it's not even close. This is coming from Kubrick head. Also, Full Metal Jacket is a comedy.

Platoon numba #1Vietnam film.
Followed by FMJ.

Honorable mention to boys in Company C. If the acting wasn’t so terrible it would be up there. R Lee pretty much saves it and makes it watchable.

It took a while for it to grow on me but FMJ would be my pick.

Platoon is the quintessential Vietnam War movie for me. The list is all classics though.

Do you think the first half of the film is superior than the second half?

A lot of people think that, I do not. Most people just like R Lee going crazy on all of the new soldiers. I think Animal Mother had the most takes ever done in a Kubrick film.

M - I - C - K - E - Y M - O - U - S - E

I dunno. I enjoyed the second half a lot more. Rafterman meeting his friend from training for the first time in Vietnam and the introduction of animal mother is my fav scene from the movie.

Edit. Check that I got the names mixed up. But yeah the introduction of animal mother in that scene is my fav scene.

I think We Were Soldiers should be up there, it's solid.

I think everyone thinks that. The movie could end there and itd be satisfying.

The dynamic between the drill seargent and Pyle is the best thing in the movie.

I still LIKE the rest of it though.

I am reading the book and there's so much more that is not in the movie regarding the second half, alot of it is fucked up in a Blood Meridian type way that I can understand not doing some of that stuff hahah

Havent seen it.

Just read the book.
Give it a watch, it's got a few war cliches "tell my wife i love herrrr" but great combat scenes.

Like in the book the training part of FMJ is rather short compared to the part when they are in the shit
