Favorite scene in each of the Alien movies

I'm a big fan of the Alien movies and most Ridley Scott movies in general. Alien and Blade Runner in particular are timeless classics.
My general comments below on each movie (nothing scene specific here though......)

As ever with these 'group of movies' ..... with a classic and all-time great original, it's always very hard to make any sequel and have it compare favorably. I feel all the movies hold up reasonably well, with the probable exception of Alien 3.

Alien is superb and I've seen it countless times over the years. I even remember a magazine cover back in 1979 featuring the original movie release. Wasn't old enough to go see it in a cinema in 1979 when it was released due to the film's rating, but I do remember clearly the publicity for the movie on magazine covers.

Aliens is different but also very good in its own way, James Cameron did what he does and made his own type of movie and didn't try to make a 'remake' of the original but went his own way, which was smart of him.

Alien 3 I've never actually watched the whole thing as I heard it really wasn't very good and the little I watched I was disappointed and just decided "nah...". Maybe because one of the actors (bald headed dude, Northern UK accent) was also in 'An American Werewolf in London' and I just couldn't quite get that out of my head.

Prometheus I liked, it was well done, any movie with Guy Pearce and Charlize Theron in it is usually good. Didn't like SOME of the casting, as any of these people on board the Prometheus are all, besides their specialist roles, *astronauts* and as such would not exhibit some of the unprofessional behavior ("Fuck this i'm out of here") that was in the movie from some of the dudes who went into the alien building, but yeah I know it's just a movie .....

Alien : Covenant (not "convenient" as a previous poster spelled it lol!) was good, and a reasonable continuation of Prometheus. Again.... it stretched the bounds of credibility when you have astronauts landing on an alien planet and sitting down and taking a cigarette break and flicking the cig butt on the ground (soon after landing the exploration party etc). Just....wouldn't ever happen as all these people should be creme de la creme and very aware of contamination issues and unknown pathogens on unexplored planets. Small details like that just rankle a bit.

Alien Romulus I have HEARD is pretty good and fairly scary. It's all down to the writer and director and that dude is Fede Alvarez and I think was a good pick for the movie. Uruguayan director and writer.

I definitely would like to hear feedback from any Sherbros who have seen Alien Romulus and tell me what they think. No spoilers please.

The fuck

Watch the whole Alien 3 bro

You cant do that.

You also missed Alien Resurrection.

This scene was deleted from the Original Aliens but the nowadays versions have it. I think it adds crazy tension

ahh the robotic machine guns, yeah that was a good touch and I liked it.

By the way., listen carefully to that clip you just posted. There's clear ADR dialogue dubbed in by Sigourney Weaver over the top of the original audio. Listen to her voice tone change quite dramatically from t=49secs and it ends at t=1m01secs as in the edit they then revert back to the original audio captured during the shoot. I guess maybe the Boom-Op didn't have the mic pointed quite the right direction or something. You might need headphones to hear this -- I use Audio-Technica ATH-M50x ($150) and they're pretty good.

I think there might be ADR vocals beginning at t=41secs as well, not sure.

I'm literally downloading Alien Resurrection now...... not quite sure how I missed that one!
Maybe I should give Alien 3 a repeat viewing, ok.

I mean to me Alien Resurrection is one of the worst movies but you should still see it.

Alien was perfect until the ending where the alien gets stuck in the ship

Pointless for the alien to be there for 1 last fight just to be stuck lol they dropped the ball for me.
What do you mean? When it goes into the smaller shuttle?

How does that ruin anything?

When she's escaping and thinks she's safe from the alien, the alien is still there but it's stuck in the ship

That's absolutely retarded

Alien 1979 - The scene where they are all eating breakfast and the alien bust out of his chest is the classic scene.

Aliens 1986 - The scene where they first go attack the nest.

Aliens 3 - The scene where she finds out she has an alien inside her.

Aliens 4 - The scene where the aliens gets loose and everyone starts evacuating.

Prometheus - The whole ending sequence once they wake up the Engineer.

I dont get you.

The Alien doesnt know she was going to blow up the ship, it simply followed her. Once the small ship disengages from the main ship there is nowhere to go, so the Alien simply waits. Ripley pisses it off by setting off the steam or whatever where it was lying to provoke it out from where it was lying.

The alien was stuck in the ship
Ripley released it, gets in the suit then sends it flying out the door

It was absolutely dumb to have the alien stuck where it couldn't move.

The alien was not waiting lol

Yes it was.

There is nothing to indicate it was stuck there and couldnt get out. You literally made that up.

She didnt "release" it. She pissed it off. She knew it would just wait there for as long as it took since there was no escape.

According to Wikipedia...

As Ripley prepares for stasis, she discovers that the alien is aboard, having stowed itself in a narrow compartment

this was even worse, the alien was playing hide n seek

Again nearly a perfect movie up until the fumbled ending. Hiding/getting stuck just to get flushed out is pointless.

I disagree, its very animal like. Many animals like to hide in nooks and crannies and often when you stumble upon them like that they are just as surprised as you are.

Bill Hader describes it well, compares it to getting into your car and driving before you notice a python waking up in the back.

There is no getting stuck.

I have not watched Romulus yet, but I will soon.

Alien (1979)

This movie has many incredible scenes, but I think my favorite is actually not so much what you see but what you dont. And Lambert's dying cries are terrifying. You mind fills in the blanks, and it is just nightmare inducing, especially as a kid first seeing it.

Aliens (1986)

Obviously it's when they are first attacked by the Xeno's. This is some of the GOATliest action in movie history. Dudes plummeting to their death while ON FIRE FTW.

LETS ROCK!

Alien 3 (1992)

I actually like this movie alot. Much more than anything that came after it by a large margin. I like the scene when Dillon decides to stop running and fight the Xeno hand to hand. The berserk rage of the Xeno....The way it was shot is amazing, and his parting words to Ripley is "God will take care of you now, sister!"

Alien Resurrection (1997)

I unfortunatley could not find the scene online, but my favorite scene is when the scientists and General Perez are discussing Ripley's clone having memories, and then they stop talking in awe as they look at the container containing the Queen. This was a really good scene. Unfortunatley this movie is pretty dumbed down from the others, and the artsy fartsy self indulgence at the end really is embarassing!

Promethus (2011)

Scenes like this make me wish the movie as a whole. I like how the Engineer clearly understands whatever it was that David was saying to him, but he just did not give two shits and pulls his head right off. Destroyed everyones hopes in two seconds. All that work for nothing.

Covenant (2017)

I enjoyed this for what it's worth, even though it has the same stupid obvious plot holes as Prometheus. I dont really have a urge to watch it again, but hey, this ending scene here is great. The terror being your last thought is psychologically fucked up.

Aliens baby ! im here for it!!!!!!!!!!!

Ill watch Romulus tonight probably and come back. No Spoilers plz.

My hot take in regards to the Alien franchise is that the only truly special film is the first one, its a perfect movie and a benchmark for cinema. Aliens is overrated, a good, competently made 80s style Hollywood blockbuster and a solid story to follow up the first one but something was lost there. Feels cheesy and unreal in a way that the first one didn't.

I really liked what Hader had to say. I have always loved Alien but it was maybe 2 years ago when I watched it again I wasn't feeling the ending but the way it describes what he believes Ridleys vision was, I dig it.
