I don't think you can really say that, I think its pretty clear he chose to step away from more demanding roles and just make money/have fun post millenium, I mean to be fair I think if anyone had earnt the right to do that its him.

In a way something like The Irishman was more depressing than Bad Grandpa(ok the trailer of it, never actually watched it) because it was Bobby trying to recreate his best work but failing to do so.

His best acting recently has been his hilarious senile rants about Trump.
