Social Fat shaming. 489 pound woman is suing Lyft after one of their drivers refused to let her ride in his vehicle because of his concerns about her fitting

Right, In our over medicated society we need to take a real look at how necessary this "medication" is.
That's a different question/point entirely. I doubt it's the fault of the patient. Ditto the other causes I mentioned, like injury, atrophy from long hospital stays, genetic predisposition, and physical or mental disability. Altogether, they represent a large proportion of fat people, likely well over half.

I think people should be regarded as individuals. I grant some people may just not give a shit and/or have given in to a shitty attitude that leaves them trying to eat their way to an early death. But even if you are personally acquainted with an obese person you may not know the cause.

As to your point, unnecessarily prescribed medication likely plays a role, I agree. Likewise, I agree people can be taught to eat better and that should be facilitated by the government (at each level, federal, state/provincial, and municipal); if there were the political will to do it, it would pay for itself before long in healthcare savings. But generalizing and calling fat people lazy and stupid isn't addressing any of that, whereas empathy might go a long way to helping them.
