International Farmers shutdown London as UK Government looks to destroy farming sector

I see. As you can guess I know...a modicum about UK politics so I'm always interested to hear from people on the ground.

Do you think it would be solved by the creation/implementation of the Fair Work Body or the creation of an Ethics and Integrity Commission?

Yes, assuming that wasn't also corrupt

An honest question here. Have you ever thought how much it would cost if you actually had to pay for the things that the tax system provides for you?

I think you don't realise that most people are a tax burden on society. It's only a select few that actually pay more than what they receive. A very small percentage.

Everyone else enjoys the benefits of a safe, clean and functioning society for basically nothing.

If you think inequality is bad now then it would only amplify in a world with no tax.

Other countries survive without the absurdity of an inheritance tax and I never argued against all taxes so your little lecture was a bit misplaced huh

that's my bad then for making the wrong assumption of you

it just gets tiresome people complaining about taxation all the time without realising how much more most people benefit from the system than they give

A new tax which would see individuals having to shell out £500,000 to the UK Government to inherit a modestly-sized farm from their own family has sent UK farmers berserk, leading to a mass protest in central London.

The tax is expected to raise £560 million and is being billed as being necessary to fund services such as the National Health Service (NHS).

Do you think putting such pressure on the farming industry for the sake of £560m is a wise decision from the same government which spends £3 billion per year housing random men from the third world, recently sent £13 billion to fund a war 2000 miles away, and sends £100 million a year to India?

Food is being used to control, subjugate, and ultimately to depopulate humanity.

When farmers will eventually be forced to go, expect mass famines, food wars, etc. Worse than in medieval times.

God save us all!!!

How should the UK raise money for the NHS, or other proposed bodies like the National Wealth Fund, Great British Energy, etc if it doesn't remove these loopholes in the tax code?

For me there's a tonne of fluff they can cut down on. We need to reform the PIP and Universal Credit systems which would save a lot of money we're paying out in benefits to people who don't need them. We need to crack down on benefit fraud. We need to be much more on the ball with self-employment and people exploiting every possible loophole they can with that and outright misreporting stuff.

Also look at a lot of contracts governments buildings etc have where we're outsourcing stuff we could do in house that would also vastly reduce our carbon footprint.

Britain is at boiling point.

This government needs to go - it has completely lost control.

Just a few months on from jailing people for pretty meek Tweets, you now have individuals freely making violent threats on live TV and popular commentators urging Brits to arm themselves in case the police come.

The response? Nothing - because the government knows it has dug itself a hole and now can’t jail people for speaking, regardless of how extreme their words are.

Control has been lost.

We need to give you a megathread for your gripes about Britain so that other threads can stay on topic.

This is on topic. That was a farmer issuing the threat, and as far as I can see no farming organisation has condemned it.

Well if nothing happens to him unless he does something or targets someone directly then that's progress. Just need consistency.

I do agree the government is shit, but I don't see a good alternative because all the major political parties are abysmal.

Reform.

The establishment tried the same shit with Donald Trump - relentlessly telling people he is a bad man who will start WW3.

Now we are able to see who really wants to start WW3.

Block out the noise.

Farage doesn't have the charisma, too many people think he's a cock. He'd never get elected.

If they found someone else to lead and gave a more robust idea of how they were actually intending to pay for their policies then maybe.

Tice does and he is also the only one seemingly willing to ask the questions that need asked in Westminster.

I agree about Farage - I think he’s a troll and attention seeker first and foremost.

Maybe when they get rid of him they'll have a chance.

I'm a single issue voter personally so I'll carry on voting Green

The obvious answer would be a huge overhaul of the government as a whole, there is so much bloated bureaucratic waste in the government (not to mention the NHS which is possibly even worse).

That won't happen though, because reduction in government size/scope is a reduction in power over the people

The people that elected them

Who said that? There’s no doubting he is a prominent voice - he has over half a million followers.

Starmer was jailing people with less than 1,000 for pretty meek posts a few months back.
