Movies FANTASTIC FOUR [2015] Thread v.2 (Dragonlord's Review)

So imagine you're a producer on the 2nd F4 film. What's your logical method for transferring Black Torch's powers to White Torch?

If it were White to Black, he could just steal them. ZING. Sorry, had to say that one before one of you did.

I could only imagine what insane plot Fox would cook up to transfer powers. ''The Black Torch transfers his will into his ring, and it finds the most worthy host as if it were sentient after his death...''

...who is clearly white ????

You're racist.

Having a black Torch does give them the option of a shocking death in the movie. Then replace with white actor who takes up his mantle and boom! You get unforeseen drama, you've drawn in. New demographic, and you return to original character loyalty.

Good point. He's Doomed Black Sidekick.

Terry Crews Reveals He Would Love to Play the Silver Surfer

Terry-Crews-Silver-Surfer-Dragonlord.jpg

Terry Crews was a fan-favorite choice to play Luke Cage for years, and the actor knew it too. He constantly expressed his interest in playing the Marvel character and unlike Tyrese Gibson, it never felt desperate; just that he was interested in and passionate about the role. Of course, Mike Colter has since been cast as Luke Cage in Netflix's A.K.A. Jessica Jones, putting an end to Crews' Hero for Hire dreams.

However, in a recent reddit AMA, Crews revealed that he now has his eye on another role in a different corner of the Marvel Universe. "It

The comics have 40-60 years of continuity and try to stay fresh while being close to the status quo. If their fresh ideas fail, they just find new ways to reset to the status quo. Having to tell stories with characters having 40 years of fictional history and create the illusion of consequence and the unknown is difficult and the rehashing of ideas helps that.

In the movies, the studios have a chance to present the characters in a completely new medium and universe in their most beloved form. A tried and true state of the character that fans have been waiting for for decades. This is what most people are referring to when they say ''...in the comics''. Of course, some things don't translate to film and other changes are improvements from the archaic source material.

Regardless, I think you see how your example isn't really applicable here. A change in comics doesn't mean the same as a change for the films. Generally, people aren't opposed to changes in Superhero films but they are opposed to obviously needless ones.

Personally, I don't really care about Human Torch being black but it's such an obvious attempt to spread the film's demographic that it will probably be distracting come release time. He wasn't going to top Evans anyways, so either way.

lol.

If that is what Hollywood thinks will sell better that is exactly what they will do.

If they think retconning or changing or pandering will sell better that is exactly what they will do.

Hollywood is under no more obligation to 'not change' characters then Marvel is and one having decades of history and the other not is meaningless to their considerations. You will never see Hollywood say 'man we really want to change this...we believe it would sell more if we changed this...but we owe it to the hard core fans to present it in the most beloved forms'. lol. No if they think something will sell better to casual fans who are the audience they are chasing most then they will change it.

As I said before 'Hollywood panders'. Shock! they have always pandered and thus the whitewashing for decades of ethnic characters to appeal to a most white industry and audience. Shock! Now as the audience changes the pandering is not just going mainly one way with ethnic characters only being whitewashed and we are starting to see white characters ethnic washed. And ZOMG the outrage suddenly found by so many who now think Hollywood needs to stay true to the characters origins. These 'changes must be stopped NOW!'

Maybe I will look after if Dragon has a thread about Exodus: Gods and Kings and I will soften my stance if I see similar level complaints about the white washing of all of Egypt with not a single ethnic actor playing a major role. And please don't say comic book characters hold a higher place and thus the obligation to not change is greater then with actual historical characters and people.

lol. lets be real and simply admit that no one cares if whitewashing of ethnic characters stops and this outrage is solely about trying to stop an increase in ethnic washing of white characters. Leave the white characters alone dammit!

??? What I posted went completely over your head. I'm not sure how, exactly.

You keep posting ''They change things in the films all the time and you should be fine with it because it happens in the comics.''

I simply explained to you why a disgruntled fan would not fine with it and has reason to not be fine with it. Not complicated. How you somehow thought my post was the stance of a Hollywood studio I have no idea. We already know they'll do whatever they can for money, I alluded to such in the last sentence of the very same post! Come on, now.

No I got your post.

I was basically saying who cares what disgruntled fans think, that reasoning is BS. It is more applicable to the changing over decades of actual ethnic to white or the recent changings I just pointed out in the movie Exodus.

Ya we get it. A certain people group of people care and whine but only in one direction. It is solely when characters are ethnic washed and as the white washing goes on and on no one gives a flying f'.

Fact, there is no real issue or upset about changing characters race. None. There is only upset about changing white characters. That is it. Leave the white characters alone.

So basically you just completely changed your stance after I showed you your statement was not applicable lol. It went from ''People should be fine with changes in the movies since it happens in the comics'' to ''People should be fine with the changes since they will happen anyway''. That's OK, I can take satisfaction in that.

I didn't hate it, but I am a sucker for a flashy trailer. I predict a disastrous flop.

lol. no my stance did not change. Your point about comics was garbage. COmics retcon and change characters all the time in all ways. That some fans, as you say while caterwauling, have a long established love of certain characters is meaningless. You made a dumb point I glossed over because it was dumb. The comic book universe puts no value in that nor should the movies.

So yes people should be fine with changes in movies and comics because they happen all the time anyway.

Not interested. Once the director made it clear he doesn't care about the comics continuity at all and just wants to use the movie as a vanity project to work with actors he likes, I lost interest in it.

We already had 2 movies where they "went their own direction" and screwed the franchise into the ground. When is Hollywood going to learn, when you adapt very popular characters to the big screen we DONT WANT you to make your own version of the characters.

yes but the point is that the comic books themselves don't have any issue re-imaging, retconning and re-writing characters in completely and new ways. We have had examples of ultimate FF where the origins are completely changed. Nothing is sacrosanct in comic books and only what sells dictates what they write.

So why anyone would think Hollywood would hold to a higher standard and ONLY when it comes to white characters not being changed, is crazy.

The comics have 40-60 years of continuity and try to stay fresh while being close to the status quo. If their fresh ideas fail, they just find new ways to reset to the status quo. I can't make it any easier to digest. Barring the fact that any decision in any fictional media is open for discussion and that you in your wildest dreams can do nothing to stop it, I clearly pointed out why changes in comics have no comparison to changes in movies. You completely changed your stance, clearly lost your temper, and posted what amounts to ''You're dumb'' and ''Shit happens''. Stop conducting yourself like a buffoon.

Too funny. You argue like a 12 year old. Claim victory now if that what turns you on.

No you did not give any clear difference. Sorry you did not. The fact that comic book fans have a long history with characters that is important to them is not a reason. If you think the real life historic and fictional characters do not have the same long historic relationship with characters you are na

Crews would be perfect, he wouldn't be all dancing funny guy, you think to much inside the box dragon, no imagination or creativity!

Ha! It's not Jackman. It's Claw Man! Suck it, prod.

And you're a simpleton (but I still luv ya :P) if you think Crew's chiseled physique is enough to play the Silver Surfer.

Due to the extraordinary nature of his physical appearance, the Silver Surfer is best suited as a motion-capture CGI-rendered performance. So the actor's physique doesn't really play a major part. Ultimately, it's the voice of the actor that is crucial for the role. You need an actor whose voice exudes class, poise and gravitas for the majestic Herald of Galactus. Someone like Laurence Fishburne, Benedict Cumberbatch, Andre Braugher, Matthew Goode, Dennis Haysbert or Matthew MacFadyen.

uh that is so boring! very cliche I'd fall asleep to these actors, Crews would keep you awake and excited! give him a chance!

I guess I'd be down for seeing a cosmic herald of Galactus make his pecs dance.

I'm okay with it as long Crews plays Martian Manhunter, Animal Man and Lex Luthor first.
