FALLOUT 4 Official Discussion: Super Stimpak Edition

I told what you wrote to my friend and he's like "God, I would just go back twenty saves if I had to. Especially the mages guild. I would offer to just suck the arch mage off if it were real life then do that quest."

Hahaha the mages guild was exactly what I had in mind. Quit playing the game for years when that happened. Never actually player the whole way through.

I guess I'll find out in a few days but what kind of changes? I never expect great combat mechanics from Bethesda but it would be really cool if they were decent.

A few of the changes.

I think a lot them also just have to do with the new perk system, which replaces the skills. There's more depth and branching options to what kinda stuff you can do in combat if Im not mistaken, such as going into small arms and getting target enemy weapon and things like that.

I really hope you get a dog companion in this game.

Interesting vid. I like a lot of the changes but am pretty skeptical about the increased cinematics during combat. Not sure what they're thinking there. Sandbox gameplay is what I'm looking for, not being force fed a story. Hopefully they didn't fuck up that aspect of the previous games.

What's your friends name?

Morrowind was an amazing experience for me. I spent more time on that game than probably any other game ever. It was just amazing. Getting your guy crazy leveled up and pretty much zero hand holding. Me and my buddies always picked our houses, killed the resident there, and rearranged everything. Which wasn't easy...no holding things out in front of you and placing them, you had to drop it from your inventory and hope you were pointing the right way to get it to lay how you like.

The multiple ways to beat the game, if you were bad ass enough you could just march in and kill Vivic. All the combos of armor, and you could still put a robe on over your armor and your shoulder armor would still show.

You could do a lot of this stuff, obviously, in Oblivion and Skyrim...but Morrowind was the first for me. It'll always have that special place in my heart.

- SETTLEMENTS: A very important pillar on the game. Some will love it, some will hate it. He thinks that, even tough he likes this kind of "microgestion"aspects from RPGS he thinks Fallout's it's a little bit harder and deep than he likes. They give sooo many options about it, and missions, and objectives that he think they take out weight from the rest of the game. ABOUT HOW THEY WORK: There are a ton lot of red workshop tables all over the world, some free and other ones occupied. Once you get to them (if the people occupying it are good people you'll have to do the typical mission to help them etc) you can do all that was seen on the demo, destroy everything, and build. You'll have to maintain the little, or bunch of humans on it with food, water, energy and beds. When they're attacked you'll receive a message and have the option to go help. It is very complete and you can invest a lot of hours making it really cute, have there your base with all your people etc, but he thinks it might be a little bit overexploited.

This was one of my concerns I posted earlier in the this thread. Just make a good Fallout game. Why use resources putting in some fucking building sim. People will of course say that it's optional and won't affect the game in anyway. But the fact that it's included in the game will affect it one way or another.

Best news ever! The trailer looked awesome, can't wait

Here he is, everybody. The first person to complain about this feature.

Wouldn't be Fallout without a dog following you around.

Also you can pre-order on Steam but no release date on the store page.

The only reason I'm not complaining about the build feature is because it's God Hawards creation. If it was another developer I'd assume it would be a crappy gimmick that takes away from the game. So I see where he's coming from. But I think it might not be so bad.

I'm one of those ol' timey bastards who played Wasteland when it first came out, along with FO1&2. I didn't really like the 1st person FO3, but hey, I'm an ol' timey bastard. I had to wipe a tear from my eye after seeing the FO4 trailer. It's not like the original, but it's moved with the times and evolved into something that is right for today. Count this ol' timer on board the FO4 train.

Godspeed FO4, godspeed!

Legit excited about this game, but most likely I'll buy it, make a character, play the first few chapters and then shelve it. I just don't have the drive to play games like I used to anymore. :icon_cry2

When Bethesda first revealed the settlement features I immediately went "holyshiet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"..............................

they basically ripped off arcoolka "RTS" mod in FO3 and Elderwind "Wasteland Defense" from New Vegas. LMAO. I enjoyed those mods but they were very buggy. I'm okay with Beth making it an feature of FO4, but its not something I'm gushing with excitement over with.

Mentioned mods in spoiler:

Me too. The only reason being that my wife didn't really like Fallout 3. I thought it was ok. I think this game will be awesome. And if you get a dog, my wife will love it.

Less than a week, and i get veterans day off from work that Wednesday. Get off work Tuesday and ignore everyone until Thursday morning.

I never played the original Fallouts and I liked 3 better than New Vegas. When I first played Fallout 3 it reminded me of Oblivion, which was my first Elders Scrolls game.

This was exactly me. Never had a PC till long after the original Fallouts.

The more I know about this game, the more fight based this game seems to be. I was actually more interested possible new features like building structures and repar tasks. What I liked about FO1&2 was that there were many options in doing quests and tasks. Fallout 3's main story was very linear from what I remember. A player should have the option of talking to someone to complete a conflict, or stealing an item to form/end an alliance.

Fallout 3's story and tone are better for me than New Vegas.

Fallout 3 feels like I'm in the wasteland, like playing through an amazing book. New Vegas feels more like a generic video game to me.

I really like New Vegas too. It just doesn't elicit the same emotions as 3 for me.

Agree. I absolutely loved the atmosphere in Fallout 3. That is why I prefer it over New Vegas.

Just saw the "trailer" on TV and it got me pumped. I saw the release date for Xbox but nothing PC related. Can someone just tell me if it will be available on PC at release date? IF not, where can I find the planned schedule?

edit: just found out it releases on the same date on all platforms (PC PS4, Xbox One), thanks simple google search...

Anyone else busy loading up FO3 with boatloads of mods to replay it? I'm loading up all as many visual mods as I can and a lot of game play expansion and tweak mods. That should keep me busy until FO4 release.

I am with New Vegas. It's my first time modding a game, really. Having a weird time figuring out if more than one of them are even working.

There's a Fallout sale on Steam this weekened for anyone interested.

Been looking up recent screenshots of this game. Goddamn it's ugly.

FONV played better and had many upgrades over 3 but the story and immersive experience in FO3 was much better imo.

In all the FONV vs FO3 threads I've seen I think my opinion was the most popular even if they gave the edge to NV.

Yeah, sure! And I truly understand this point of view. It's just the matter of where you discuss it and with who. Fallout 3 is the least popular among old school fans (try No Mutants Allowed for example), but on the other hand it was a commercial success that brought so many new fans on board.

Anyway, I like the idea of Bethesda doing their thing on the east coast of Fallout universe & Obsidian continuing the west coast with spin-off's. I just hope they don't touch the basics of Fallout game that are "silent" protagonist, SPECIAL and retro-futurism.

I think with New Vegas, for anyone that played FO3 first, that initial "mind-blown" feeling wasn't there because it wasn't that much of a leap from FO3—just more of what had already been experienced. Nonetheless, New Vegas is a VERY solid game.

That's what I mean. For example VATS and all the mini-games like lock picking & hacking where just same old from F3. There were few amazing new things (or old, depends how you look at it) like story-driven, actual talking companions and reputation system that were brought back from the original Fallout games. I hope Bethesda learned some tricks from Obsidian.

When I looked at the mods for FO3/NV all I could find was texture improvements and graphical tweaks, I was a little bit underwhelmed tbh.

I'm taking Tuesday off and don't go back into work until friday. Three glorious days of nothing but Fallout 4.

Agreed. Especially since technology seems to be a focal point of this next installment—there's A LOT of possibilities (similar to Watch_Dogs' hacking mode, which were nice little in-game puzzles that required some thought). New features are key to presenting a fresh new product, and I have a lot of faith that Fallout 4 will deliver. Bethesda rarely disappoints.

Now begins the painful two week countdown to Bethesda's E3 appearance on June 18. I hope they have a lot of info lined up!

There's a bunch for New Vegas that add new areas/quests/monsters.

LOLing @ all the PC Elitists ITT bragging about "superior" graphics like that's what matters in a Fallout game. Gimme a break..

Go to the Fallout 3 and New Vegas Nexus. Everything you need is there.
