Just bought it for aprox. U$ 80 on Steam. Couldn't resist...

It's not so much that the graphics are not great, I think it's more that there seems to be very little improvement at all from FO 3. Maybe I'm too used to current gen graphics and am remembering FO 3 incorrectly, but that game play vid posted before does not look much improvement.

You really need to go back and look at the Fallout 3 graphics. I think you memory is distorted. Its a huge leap in graphics from it.

Lack of time maybe? It's really hard for me to get back the immersion of rpg's if you don't play them in a while. Happened to me with Pillars Of Eternity for example.

Gotta make some room for Fallout 4 tho when it's out. Just warned my gf..

Actually kinda worried about Fallout 4 because of that. I would get ripped to all bejesus and play for hours on end. Now I cant go more then an hour or so before calling it quits on any game session.

This happens to me too and I think it's because so many games are moving toward "open world," but they are filling that world with menial tasks. Almost all games are "completionists" so if we see something we can do we do it before moving forward. So you get these maps covered in objectives and we're compelled to do them all and just burn out from the repetition.

That is my experience, anyway.

The more I know about this game, the more fight based this game seems to be. I was actually more interested possible new features like building structures and repar tasks. What I liked about FO1&2 was that there were many options in doing quests and tasks. Fallout 3's main story was very linear from what I remember. A player should have the option of talking to someone to complete a conflict, or stealing an item to form/end an alliance.

If that perks chart (#746) is accurate here's my revised starter build that I'm leaning on using. 1 SPECIAL minimum and 21 points allocated = 28 total at start of game.

Strength: 3 (Armorer perk)
Perception: 2 (Rifleman perk)
Endurance: 7 (Toughness and Adamantium Skeleton perk)
Charisma: 1
Intelligence: 7 (Medic, Gun Nut and Nuclear Physicist +2 Int needed)
Agility: 1
Luck: 7 (Better Criticals perk)

The game looks truly amazing, blows the competition away once again. People are stuck on last gen, not Todd Howard and Fallout.

I think Doom looks like a last gen experience btw, I was completely underwhelmed by that, but I'm also not a fan of doom to begin with.

But I also enjoy seeing games push boundaries and move forward, and I appreciate that Todd Howard actually understands how gimmicky and pathetic his competition is.

We're just being realistic and commenting on the obvious. The game still uses framework and code from 1997. It's going to look dated out of the box. Will it be a good game? Absolutely! I fucking love Bethesda. But don't delude yourself into thinking this is a truly next-generation open world experience that will steal GOTY away from titles like MGS5, Witcher 3, Bloodborne and GTA5 PC.

Bethesda's most successful IP isn't Fallout, it's The Elder Scrolls.

Not only does Fallout 4 look bad, it arguably looks worse than a game from 2008 with some free / consumer mods.

That said the game will still get stellar reviews and I've already pre-purchased it on Steam. I'm playing on my 4K tv so that'll help bump up the graphical fidelity but outside of that this game looks awful when compared to stuff coming out in 2015.

uGrids unlocked for extended LOD. Grass no longer restricted to a smaller grid as well giving you that huge and lush open world feel. SSAO / AA / AF / Bloom / Dynamic lighting through ENB all maxed out to create a smooth, atmospheric and tonally correct game world.

It's all modded, yup. And this does give me some hope for Fallout 4 in the coming year....But it's just disappointing that a game coming out nearly half a decade later looks worse than what a couple of kids in theirs moms basements can do for free.

Why even compare any console game to a modded game anyway, it doesn't make sense. You can mod fallout 4 too, so what is even point?
