FALLOUT 4 Official Discussion: Super Stimpak Edition

How's that Pip Boy supposed to work? I'm not usually a fan of special editions but that looks pretty legit.

Its just a case that holds your phone. There will be a pip boy app

Everyone talking about graphics needs to realize this is a game developed for consoles, then ported to PC (like most AAA games these days). It is sad in a way, but at least we have mods to look forward to.

I'm kinda indifferent on the whole base building thing. It looks fun, but mechanics like that are always so meticulous and tedious.

My biggest concern is the annoyance of seeing, "RAIDERS ARE ATTACKING YOUR BASE" when I'm out exploring or engrossed in something else.

We live in a 5 star/1 star (10/10 or 1/10) world nowadays. If a game isn't a 10/10 it's considered disappointing to some people. Crazy shit.

i think it will be close, right now witcher 3 holds the highest marks. i think they will win it, and i hope they do. I think id doom made it out before this, i think Bethesda would have won.

Did they say if building a base is mandatory? Maybe you won't have to worry about it.

It sounds really cool to me but I could see it becoming tedious if you need to fetch a billion items from around the map to build the thing.

I think it's moreso a case of people being incapable of dividing emotions / expectations about a product they don't want to hear is disappointing.

So they'll come out and be like: "Graphics are good enough for me!" or some other line that really doesn't mean anything. I mean, sure, it's good enough for anyone but that's not really the point is it? I mean, by all means, if you want to celebrate in the wake of last gen consoles determining next-gen production cycles go for it. But don't expect everyone to chime in like sheep because you're excited about something and don't have either the experience, hardware or understanding required to see why some people are a little let down. A lot of us are paying attention and actually work in this industry and that's why you'll get some very passionate and educated responses in regards to these issues.

Ultimately people love to love what they love.

They said it is completely optional, you can do whatever you want.

In Skyrim enemies only attacked your manor if you were very close by (same cell). I assume it still works that way.

No, I think people honestly don't care...I don't see anyone disagreeing about the graphics...just people beating the dead horse about the graphics...

If people honestly really cared, everyone would be a pc player...

That's cool. I liked having storage in Megaton but wandering the Wasteland was what made the game for me.

Horse can't be that dead. Most of this footage being discussed has come out in the last week.

But yes, people care about graphics. They care a lot. The industry has a series of highly trafficked sites dedicated to graphics comparisons between multiplatform titles, etc. Most of the console wars in the last 15 years have been about what system has the superior looking titles, etc.

Most people really, really care....They'd all choose PC if it was a $300 device.

I'm just glad that the whole game doesn't have a green tint.

PC mods will be shareable and usable on the XB1 version! That is huge.

Would they tho?

I always think that there's plenty of room for everything. There are and will be some AAA titles that have the best graphics, and people can play those games. But for open world games, it's always the gameplay and mechanics that come first. I'd rather have faster frame rate and smooth game play for this kind of game. Fallout was never supposed to be about graphics, anyways. Alot of these guys bitching about graphics probably didn't play the originals.

Don't think that will be exclusive to XBONE. They never used the word "exclusive" during the reveal and anytime something actually is exclusive they make sure so pump up its exclusivity non stop. I would not be surprised in the least to hear the stuff about mods again tonight in the Sony presser.

I'm talking about beating the dead horse in this thread...would we like the game to look 100x better? Sure, who wouldn't...but I am sure we care more about gameplay or people would be cancelling their pre-orders if the look really bothered them...

PC gaming is a different world...price isn't the factor when most people decide PC or not...a lot of console and pc players have both...

Mods on XBONE Baby HNNNNNGGG..

Anyone try Fallout Shelter yet?

This just reminds me of all of the film students I went to school with. All they do is complain about movies now and why it wasn't shot right or the lighting was wrong. Sounds like working in the industry has ruined gaming for you like going to film school ruined movies for all of those guys I went to school with.

I didn't say it would be.

Games are developed with console hardware in mind because consoles make up something like 80% of sales measured by platform. PC master race folks are simply not an economically significant segment of the market. Why would studios develop games optimized for a minority of their customers?

Just watched the E3 footage and all I can say is wow. Looks so fucking awesome.

Of course this game is going to look like shit, Bethesda RPGs always look like shit, but thats not why we love them.

I was watching Gamespot's stream and after Todd Howard gave the Microsoft presentation they are like "Uhh, what was the point of that? The other presentation was much better..."

How about you get to have fucking mods on a console. It's basically free DLC around the clock. Fucking morons lol If PS4 doesn't announce the same thing, and it's an exclusive situation, that's a huge deal. A console selling advantage. It would EASILY have gotten me to go with the x1. If I wasn't planning on using a pc, I'd feel pissed off I got a ps4, if they don't announce the same thing.

+1. I could be very wrong, but I kinda trust the team that made the ES games and FO3 when they said (paraphrase) 'we had to balance things out in order to find our sweet spot.' One cannot walk the entire map in DAI or TW3 without loading another map. Bethesda games are about one world and lots of freedom. Consoles are a governor on whats possible.

Mods on console is a timed exclusive, out on xbox a few months after game launch and confirmed on ps4 but after xbox...I'm glad mods for console versions but they still won't be as great as PC mods...

1-Consoles won't get graphic upgrade mods.
2-Licensing issues. Doubtful any mods with characters that will cause licensing issues will be allowed. Don't expect to see Super Mario running around in Fallout.
3-Nudity mods won't be ok'd.

Consoles will get the handicapped mods

Not at the expense of other aspects though, just look at The Order's reception

I heard nothing about exclusivity. However, during the interview they said "Xbox one will get mods for free".

It seems to me that the emotional ones are not coming out and saying 'its good enough for me' but rather "the game looks like crap." Your argument that those of us who are not bothered by the graphics are 'sheep with no experience, hardware or understanding' and those who are bothered 'are only a little let down' is a frame that does not reflect this thread and makes you sound manipulative and emotional NOT passionate and educated.

Exactly. Consoles pay the bills. Big studios would be out of business if they catered to PC specs and their games ran like ass on console.

As someone who has only played Fallout 2 and never the first person Fallout 3 or NV..

I'm very excite! (borat voice)

Also the fact PC gamers are more then happy to buy their games by other means...so in many cases the makers of the games don't get any money from PC sales...or a very small percentage compared to console game sales depending on the source of buying...it's why a lot of PC exclusives are now coming out on consoles...

You could switch between first and third person in those games. F04 will probably have the same option.

about to preorder mine
fucking stoked
