FALLOUT 4 Official Discussion: Super Stimpak Edition

I never played the original Fallouts and I liked 3 better than New Vegas. When I first played Fallout 3 it reminded me of Oblivion, which was my first Elders Scrolls game.

Serious question, Who cares? Game is going to be amazing. Graphics look good enough to me. I dont need to spend 2k on a killer PC to satisfy my needs. I was just playing FTL earlier.

morrowind was my first, but out of all the elder scrolls i've played, Oblivion was by far my favorite.

They've shown videos of live gameplay and it looked great, what am I supposed to take away from a bunch of stills? Nothing.

It's a sale purchase for me.. Those graphics look horrible.. and yes, I sort of care about them since I'm on PC. Modders' will have to once again fix and make a Bethesda game better..

I enjoy the RPG elements of Fallout but VATS ruins the entire game.. Don't tell me you can play without it, because you can... but you won't be able to hit shit n you'll get your ass kicked all the time.

But it's so much fun to watch limbs fly through the air in slow mo!

FO3 was great but it was missing one key element that would put it over NV.

The humor.

i don't care i'm on pc, i think its stupid that it's considered "next gen" for consoles.

I wasn't able to truly appreciate Oblivion, or any Elders Scrolls game, until my second play through. I guess I was just too overwhelmed at first. The huge world, lore, leveling system, etc. But I think Oblivion is my favorite too. Maybe because it was my first experience in an ES world, but I also just loved Cyrodiil. Skyrim is the superior game in most ways, but there's something about Oblivion that stays with me.

VATS is a very polarizing feature. On the one hand, it eases the combat completely, on the other hand, you always find yourself using it. VATS is probably best used as a safety mechanism if you know you're about to die, but it takes a personal discipline to only use it sparingly.

Exactly. The game looked great graphically. The use of light was amazing. It's going to be a great game. Miles ahead of other games in the genre.

I think Skyrim was over all better. But Oblivion had better quests and guilds. Also the everyday people walking around were much more interesting and less one dimensional than skyrim. You could tell they were devious and back stabbing. Whereas in Skyrim I always felt the normal people never hid anything and lacked depth.

lol@ people getting butthurt for a criticism. It reallly doesnt look all that great, im still confused why they didn't use IDtech 5.

I'm glad ID is doing the gun play, makes me pleased. I don't think it will beast CDPR, but it think this game will give it a run for its money(if it does ill be absolutely shocked)

To me FO3 and NV are very close, but I give the slight edge to NV. I found the companions and characters more interesting, although 3 probably had more memorable quests.

- DIFFICULTY: Very easy, easy, normal, hard, very hard, SURVIVAL. They change damage, resistance of enemies and appearing rate of legendary enemies. Legendary enemies are harder and they have a chance of dropping a legendary item with unique characteristics like better critic chance or that refills AP when doing a critic.

- HUD color will be customizable by RGB sliders.

- Minigames for unlocking doors and terminals are exactly the same as in Fallout 3.

- About the size of the map, is hard to tell a size because it's quite small on the pip-boy but it doesn't seem small at all, there is a lot to find on it. Probably Skyrim's size more or less?

- COMBAT: WAY better. It is no COD but the FPS sensations are amazing, you notice every impact, the weapons recess, different characteristics between them etc makes it wonderful. There was a lot of place from Fallout 3 to improve so I was doubtful about what would they do, but you all can be calm about it. Also, enemy AI, without being super evolved or anything, it's way better. Enemies hide, get cover a lot, they go for you when you have little health or you're reloading (He's playing in hard mode). He says VATS it's completely not essential.

- Animations are flawless. People's faces, even tough there are some similar (particularly raiders) there are a lot, and way different ones from each other.

- He didn't like at all the dialogue system, and in 23 hours he's played almost no mission he was able to get out of just by dialogue. Although there was some "X person approved" like in Dragon Age/Mass Effect, there is no visible karma system, and that takes a lot of attractive to the diplomatic side of the game. He checked statics and he didn't see either nothing about reputations like in NV. He thinks it will probably work like in Skyrim and Oblivion.

- SETTLEMENTS: A very important pillar on the game. Some will love it, some will hate it. He thinks that, even tough he likes this kind of "microgestion"aspects from RPGS he thinks Fallout's it's a little bit harder and deep than he likes. They give sooo many options about it, and missions, and objectives that he think they take out weight from the rest of the game. ABOUT HOW THEY WORK: There are a ton lot of red workshop tables all over the world, some free and other ones occupied. Once you get to them (if the people occupying it are good people you'll have to do the typical mission to help them etc) you can do all that was seen on the demo, destroy everything, and build. You'll have to maintain the little, or bunch of humans on it with food, water, energy and beds. When they're attacked you'll receive a message and have the option to go help. It is very complete and you can invest a lot of hours making it really cute, have there your base with all your people etc, but he thinks it might be a little bit overexploited.

- WEAPONS: More about them, he has only seen like 12-15 base weapons yet, but he says that the weapons mods is crazy. Every weapon can easily have 25-30 different pieces that alter sadistics.

- LOADING TIMES: There are a lot of little houses that doesn't need a loading screen, but big buildings normally do. Loadings between buildings are normally really short, being fast travel loading longer.

-POWER ARMORS: Used almost like a vehicle. You get inside, you use it, you get out of it and it stays on that place. It gives them a more OP feel, but it is also way less "comfortable" to use.

-NARRATIVE: He says it starts a little bit weak, and it takes a little to get it up and running. In his almost a day of playing has only completed 4 history missions because they're pretty long and full of things to do. Even tough, he thinks the way the story is going can be very interesting.

i know we have some Spaniards in here...sooo

Can't beat Fawkes.

We aren't butthurt by criticism. It's the low quality and the false hoods that are annoying. Its ok if you are a PC snob and obsess over graphics. But you don't need to be butthurt when people roll their eyes.

agreed. The guilds in Oblivion were far superior, the quests were better, and overall i like oblivions dlcs more, but the x factor for me was oblivions atmosphere and fantasy feel. Skyrim just felt a little bland, and also the enemies were to plain in skyrim, it was usually just bandits and wildlife

Remember Skyrim on release for PC? Looked about the same as the ps3 and 360 versions. You will have to wait for mods......months later.

Yeah, thats not true at all. At release the graphics were fucking awesome. Mods only improved it, but the PC had the better graphics by far.

My own personal steam pics hours after release. Stop the lies now, please.

EDIT: Goddamnit, I hate the auto-shrink the site does on pics. Links included for big-o-versions.

God forbid you get kicked out of a guild in Oblivion. Prepare to spend the rest of the game trying to get back in.

How quickly will nude mods be available? Under/over 1 month?

I greatly preferred Oblivion to Skyrim. That world felt alive and everything was interesting. Skyrim felt like the same thing over, and over, and over again.

http://gearnuke.com/leaked-fallout-...look-much-better-colorful-compressed-screens/

here some more leaked one, slightly better Res, but still over all looks like a god damn ps3.

FO3 and NV were great games but pretty broken on PS3. They also crashed a lot on PC from what I understand. As long as FO4 is stable and the graphics are slightly better, it's an improvement. Imagine being able to play for more than five minutes without saving. Not sure my heart could take the excitement.

yep. Skyrim had better graphics but just seemed overall pretty dull to me. Oblivion felt just like you put it "alive"

Where are the games as big and beautiful as fallout 4 on the xbox360? I missed out on them.

I played the first two Fallouts a few years after they came out so graphics aren't the end all for me. Great graphics are wonderful, no doubt, but the gameplay and story will be more than enough, especially with Fallout.

Im surprised so many people are complaining about graphics.

This game could look EXACTLY like fall out 3 (in terms of graphics), and i will love it all the same.

I really liked smithing and the ability to make your own houses in Skyrim. I hope they expand on that. I'd rather have one really customizable house or castle that you have instead of a house in every city. I mean I guess I'd like to have both but I'd really only use the homemade/customizable house.

Also Skyrim had the perk trees, which were introduced in Fallout 3.

So there were a lot of things I liked more about Skyrim but I still just have more memories of Oblivion. Then again I guess they took some things out that everyone liked about the previous games like potion crafting and levitation.

I think some of you guys are forgetting how much fallout 3 looks like dookie. I played through it with graphics mods just 2 months ago and fallout 4 from the screenshots and limited vids I saw look way better

You clearly haven't heard or read anything about the improvements to the shooting mechanics in Fallout 4.

God forbid you get kicked out of a guild in Oblivion. Prepare to spend the rest of the game trying to get back in.

I told what you wrote to my friend and he's like "God, I would just go back twenty saves if I had to. Especially the mages guild. I would offer to just suck the arch mage off if it were real life then do that quest."

I guess I'll find out in a few days but what kind of changes? I never expect great combat mechanics from Bethesda but it would be really cool if they were decent.
