Wtf is the deal with the vats hate? You don't have to use it if you don't want, don't like it don't use it. I used it against some high level enemies but most low level stuff I wouldn't use it as it is slower than 1-2 shotting stuff. I don't spend much time on video game forums(F88 is about it) and nobody I know irl has an issue with vats. I didn't even realize people don't like it. The ads ability in NV was pretty decent imo.
 
I'll probably stick to something similar that I've done in the past with high intelligence a decent agility score with low strength and charisma. I'll stick to small guns (or rifles/shotguns).

People say they hate VATS but what they really mean is they hate the lack of turn based combat. VATS in FO 1/2 and 3/NV are actually pretty similar in how they function. I think the only thing you can't do in VATS in 3/NV is blind an opponent by targeting their eyes.

I hope VATS has a role, but yeah, not as overwhelming as to use it constantly for every shot.

If it was used to slow down time, rather than to pause time to choose which part of the body you'd aim at, that'd be an improvement. But I've been spoiled by Counterstrike's smooth movement and high-paced action that require fast reaction times.
 
Well, I went against my no pre-ordering stance and paid in full for it today. I don't know why but I want that damn poster :)

I already told people not to expect to see or hear for me for a week when this comes out.

They already have implant GRX for bullet time, and turbo. They just leave VATS in to cater to a very small yet vocal demographic of really old fans and people terrible at video games.

I don't speak for everyone, but I don't like VATS because it's a relic of gaming that has had it's run. There's no reason to burden the game play or skill tree with an ability that's still in the game 'just because it was always there'.

Of course if we don't like it we're not going to use it, but that doesn't mean we can't voice displeasure at it's implementation. It's a forum where people are sharing their ideas about what they're excited to see and the changes they hope are integrated.
 
It seems like in every Fallout thread it always devolves into pointless VATs debates. Who cares. If you don't like it don't use it. Simple.

Vats isn't for people who suck. It's fun watching body parts fly and heads get blown off. Yall can quit crying about it.

If the aiming and movement was more smooth, more like a shooter like Halo, COD, or CS:GO, then not using VATS would be awesome.

But it has the aiming and movement for a FPS RPG, so VATS is required to hide the shittiness of the movement and aiming.

This is probably one of the reasons I'll have to wait until sufficient mods are out to correct the issue. Unless they're planning on using a new engine for FO4, than was used for Skyrim and FO3.

Anyone know if there's a new engine?

That's about what i'd do, but i'd probably switch Perception and Charisma

I love vats. I'm sadistic in the fact that I like popping a npc in the leg with a low level pistol and watching them try to limp away and flee. Then you gotta throw on the Jason mask and stalk them down.

This. vats is fun to use. i play on very hard anyway their games are always too easy. Hoping for a combat overhaul, at least more challenge.
 
Seems like as far as graphics go, its the dog thats underwhelming more than anything. Models and animations have never been Bethesdas strong suit.

Even so, Bethesda games are generally pretty awesome graphically when they release, but seem to age much quicker than other graphics.

If graphics were everything for me in video games , I'd wait for my PC upgrade, but graphics are not that important

Its nice to get it to look amazing and better with mods (skyrim on console was fun, skyrim with mods on PC was a blast)

I grew up always on console until 2009 when I built my first (and only one, so far) PC for gaming (22 years) so playing on a console doesn't bug me, but everyone has their own preference
 
I want to do my build with high INT with points going into lock picking and cracking computers

Then I'll do a 1 int, melee strength run.

That's not the point. The point is, it looks kinda bad, is it stopping me from buying it? No...is it fucking annoying? Oh god yes, i cant wait tell mods fix it.

it looks pretty terrible on consoles, like...slightly better then fallout 3? They need to ditch the creation engine...
 
IGN did an unboxing video of the Pip-Boy Edition of FO4 and I must say that I'm excited to receive mine in the mail on release day. I like collecting the CE's of games and this is definitely $120 well spent I think. Some of the comments say that for $120 this is not worth it but for me this is more of a novelty item that I display/collect.
 
It really looks like it's development began for the ps3 and 360. The developers then revolted, threw Todd Howard in a dungeon. They would not put up with the limited memory issues, never again. Still, the game was largely built around the old consoles. Todd Howard then told the developers to atleast make it 1080P as a compromise for the Ps4 and X1, for the wasted work trying to get it to run on the ps3 and 360 for months. Thats all they need to do. Make it 1080P. In exchange Todd was let out of the dungeon. :)

But, yeah, the leaked pics don't look impressive at all. Now you know why Bethesda hasn't really shown any pics or gameplay.
