"Clearly, I wasn't patient enough. Against Miocic I wasn't really focused. In the Volkov fight, I was focused, but this lack of patience really didn't do me any favors. I've lost several some other times because I just wanted to finish the fight. If you pay attention, you'll see that in all the times I lost, I was the one attacking. I did very well in the first and second rounds - I was dictating the pace. I suffer from a lot of anxiety so I'm going to address it now. I'll hire a sports psychologist and fix these issues" - says the former champion, Fabrício Werdum

Good call IMO, hiring a psychologist would prevent plenty of fighters from getting Alvarez'd

He is still top tier. Not sure if he will ever get the belt back... but the guy tapped Fedor..... Fedor.

He's getting old, so it might not be a bad idea seeing as how he needs every advantage possible to compete at the elite level.

I'd like to see him tighten his body up by having better nutrition and possibly more weight lifting, I know he's 40....But still, he looks soft/flabby

I remember how much shit GSP took for hiring a sports psychologist after losing to Serra

Don't know why he thinks he needs a psychologist, he looks fine to me

Nothing to do with anxiety

The time has come to just chillax at the den with his family and smash the wifey whenever the hell he wants

In his defense, his recent losses all did seem to come as a result of a mental lapse. Charging recklessly at Stipe, shooting a takedown when he had Reem completely rocked, and giving up back control for a wild armbar attempt were all poor decisions that might have come from panicking.

I’m not saying he would have beat Stipe as that is a bad style matchup for him but if he believe this will help him, it probably will. His skills don’t seem to have diminished much so I’m sure he’s still got some good fights left

Werdum you are 40 years old, maybe stop cage fighting will help your anxiety some.

I don't think anxiety is his problem. He's 40 and has probably got a good bit of money set aside, wouldn't mind seeing him retire he's accomplished all there is to accomplish in the sport.

I think that’s his problem, keeps picking fights with guys much smaller than him then when it’s time to fight a HW he’s out of his element.
Looked fine against Tybura and Harris. I just don't think he can beat the top guys anymore, his window is closing.

What possible good could come from publicly announcing this? Thats like an NFL lineman declaring he's being bullied or really just wants to be a dancer..

F, Cheesy Colbington's gonna be all over this.. dam gonna have to change my Sig again...

It's very normal. I'm sure you'd get nervous too if you stepped into a cage on a regular basis. Also your comparison makes no sense.

maybe the psychologist will help him accept his career is coming to an end?
