what? OK full disclosure... I got an uncle that has directed this musical in 2 different states. And he said" there was no race swap and we have had different races play both characters". But if you say there's an original that I am just not aware of then so be it.

Even if there was a race swap in this thing. hey.... its a broadway musical. There's no point in saying "who cares?" Since honestly the VAST majority of Americans thought this was just a recent made up prequal.

Also, this one makes zero sense.

House Slytherin was an allegory to Nazi and white supremacists ideology about "purity." Now they replace him with a black person that is to be bullied by other white characters? That makes zero sense.

He got bullied by James Potter and friends.
Lily Potter didn't like him back and refused to be with him.

Why even bother with a remake? The movies are fantastic as is. Especially the first four.

I read the books to my oldest before the movies came out. Seeing them on the big screen was akin to seeing LOTR for the first time.

There’s zero chance of recreating that experience
