low budget A24 movie, directed by a niche former SNL cast member, that barely had any marketing push & was dropped into theaters at the same time as the Wicked/Moana 2/Gladiator 2 releases. yeah, i don’t think they expected Y2K to be a hit like the article author hypothesizes.

They really are that bad, look up the whole sweet baby inc controversy to get a good idea of what’s going on. Long story short,activism and dei got into gaming, has significantly affected the quality of games and people are now pissed and games with any type of wokeness tied to it seem to be flopping or set to flop.

Then you have the typical “it’s not DEI and wokeness” bad actors trying to defend it

Seems like all this "wokeness" has been going on for years already with the whole Gamergate thing. If it's making game sales fail, why do they keep doing it? Seems like there's no end to it.

I mean Disney keeps doing flop after flop and they still haven't changed their ways.

At this point I would assume it’s because a lot of them are too far along in development, woke shit most likely won’t stop coming down the pipe from these companies for at least the next couple years

Living where I do, I have been surrounded by diverse people my whole life. There is a difference between diversity and woke DEI. Even woke DEI could survive if the quality is outstanding (Vox Machina comes to mind). But when the quality is off people will attack BECAUSE the woke DEI took precedence over quality. That happened with The Acolyte....they WANTED to make a gay Star Wars and it showed and it sucked. That happened with She Hulk. The Marvels. MAdame Web. All garbage. The Sandman too.

There are loads of small budget movies that do turn a profit. Discussing other movies isn’t relevant to whether or not this movie turned a profit.
