Exercises Tailored to Grappling

The mendes brother posted this on facebook one day and I thought it would be a cool exercise for BJJ


Ofcourse the guy on top would be holding onto the gi though and it would be back and forth across the mats or in a circle.

Turkish get ups...they suck but great functional movement. I've also been using a macebell you can make one with a shovel handle, some screws, quikrete and a junior soccerball for like $25. Id say anything functional will carry over. Drop sets of standing dumb belll curls probablly not so much

Ya no idea what movie this is from but yes it is cheesy. The point of the video was the exercise though. What do you have to contribute to this thread Beverly Hills?
 
Andre Galvao's new book is full of awesome solo drills. As a matter of fact, it's called "Drill to Win", so you also know exactly why you're doing that shit.

this, with the addition of barbell hip thrusts.


you load up the barbell put it on your hips and bridge your hips to the sky. I went from 135x12 to 170 x 12 in the course of a month (a month of not even really trying to get stronger, mind you)

the effects are very noticeable. bridging people larger than me is no longer as difficult as it used to be. Ideally I want to get to atleast 250 x 12 and eventually 315 x 12.

the only cons of this exercise is that people look at you weird for humping a barbell.

pros, you can hump your girl from on bottom with VICIOUS force :icon_twis


you do these with your back against a bench or just on the floor? Ive been meaning to add these for about a year now.

I was doing these one day with my friend in the gym. A meathead-looking guy (this doens't mean he isnt nice or smart) walks by and says, "You guys training to be porn stars?"

My friend doesn't train with me anymore, he decided to go back to his bodybuilding routine :(. (he's not a bodybuilder).

since ive started adding in hang power cleans my kuzushi in judo has been feeling a lot stronger
