Exactly how legit is Rickson Gracie?

Take it from Demian Maia. About 1 minute into this video he explains why Rickson's bij is different. Bjjscout found this interview clip. I am a blue belt, but Maia is a world champ and probably the most successful modern bjj stylist in MMA. Galvao and Marcelo Garcia didn't do well when they went into MMA. What made Maia different?

Standing? Sure. On the ground? No. Nobody "ruins" Rickson on the ground, except his son or other world-class black belts, during his old age... unless you think of catch wrestling as some mystical kryptonite to Jiu-Jitsu or whatever, rather than a great way to play top game.

Well, Saku for sure showed that his catch wrestling was good enough to beat Gracies during that time. Would have been nice if we did get that Saku-Rickson match. Saku is also 10 years younger that Rickson and we saw with Saku what age does to one (coupled with tough fights for many years).
