But I remember the template being set vs. Wineland. Then Dillashaw executed to a tee. Then people like Brian Kelleher were very much replicating that type of performance.

I'm sure confidence has something to do with it too. But I think it's kind of like when Guida figured out Pettis, and people started using the formula time and time again successfully.

I think great fighters go out and make adjustments when people are changing tactics against them. But I also think A sustained beating round after round like he got against TJ is really going to mess with your head. It’s not like GSP losing by knockout in a fight he was winning against Serra. It happened very fast. And as soon as that happened everyone was trying to land a huge overhand right against him going forward. He had to adjust. But A sustained beating like that I just think mentally is tough to get over when you are on top.

Wow that was just absolutely pathetic. He got beat up by a gay pornstar MMA journeyman. He needs to take some lessons from this guy.

I'm sure a beating like that does affect you, but at the very least Barao has remained tough, and keeps trying to stay in fights.

So pretty much if a fighter drops off it has to be USADA?

It cant be fighting Robbie Lawler for 50 minutes or getting his head kicked in by Wonderboy.

Why does he deserve a break?

All this does is emphasize even further how much he was cheating pre-USADA in the UFC.

When your claim to fame comes from "almost" beating the GOAT while being juiced to the gills and flat out refusing better drug testing, what exactly does that say about your legacy?

Congrats Johny. Went you fought GSP he had been in the UFC since 2004 and had fought 21 times. He's regarded as among the greatest of all time and probably 4th or 5th in UFC earnings behind McGregor, Rousey and Lesnar.

You on the other hand, couldn't make weight of the latter part of your career, lost to guys like Magny and Time Boetsch, and were left unsigned by the UFC, and you are reduced to fighting in trailer parks. Well done. 70 percent indeed.

You know Joe "Diesel" Riggs started off in boxing and Chris Lytle has a background as well. Both guys are the only fighters that are doing well in straight up stand up fights.

I wonder if they would have done better if they were pro boxers. Chris never got finished despite the insane dynamics of MMA and got layed and prayed shit tons of times. He could have been a killer boxer if that was his only focus.

Joe Riggs has solid boxing technique. The mental aspect might be his weakness but perhaps because he was a boxer first might have not been a problem if he was a pro boxer.

First off..i mean..its not mma is it?
Also...he doesnt have the greatest hands out there. MMA hands are no where near as good as classic boxing hands.
But especially for hendricks...he had heavy hands, yes, but his standup wasnt exactly great.

He was 32-1 at one point and 9-0 UFC and WEC combined. I don’t think he was figured out. TJ beat the shit out of him and I think he simply lost all of his confidence. He might have been figured out a little bit but it was more of the beating he took.. When you are on the top of the mountain like that, and somebody comes along and beats you down so badly. It Has to fuck with your head.
Once the aura of invencibility is broken, ir cant be regained.
Barão, Aldo, Anderson, Fedor, Machida... all but Jones, really. Steroids, yes. Still.

Damn. From beating GSP up to getting KOd in a backyard trash card. Has there been a bigger fall from Grace?
Well it's his fault brother cheated and he got comeuppance

Hendricks should be all the evidence anyone ever needs that PEDs change literally everything about someone's ability to perform. When people claim that fighters who test positive would still be the best without them, you only need to point to this. Not only would they not be the best, they might not even be UFC caliber without them.

Tons of people are ignorant of all the beneficial aspects of gear. The anabolic benefits are last compared to the added endurance, accelerated recuperation and wellspring of confidence & mental aspects testosterone gives you.
