"Every LHW in UFC today would lay a whooping on prime Don Frye" - Jack Slack

Posting this in a forum where 99% of the people think Fedor is the HW goat, fighting never evolves, and the heroes of old wouldn't get beaten to a pulp in the modern era...this should go over well.

The truth may set you free, but first it's gonna piss you off.

Nah, there have been many Kimbo Slice - level LHW/HW's in the UFC in the past 10 years, or even worse. Prime Frye would definitely have been favorite against some of them.

That statement is plain stupid. I can somewhat agree he'd lose to modern top 10, but every UFC LHW? No way.

Yeah....so what. It's a black and white era of mma and todays mma fighters have too many advantages. Why would someone bother to write something like this. We have thee most useless fans ( for the most part) and the journalists aren't much better.

Frye was from a black and white era relatively speaking...and he was a standout in such era

Fighting is fighting

Frye was well versed in the already fully evolved fighting arts of boxing, judo and wrestling. Along with great athletic ability, toughness, heart and punching power.

The advantages of modern training techniques don't allow you to overcome all that by default

Disgusting.

It's like he's trying to say that this guy wasn't all that technically skilled.

Don knew how to jab and feint, but no boxing display provided him of more popularity - and probably money - than the one in your gif.
The guy really enjoyed a raw brawl

Lol try that with any top 20 HW or LHW nowadays and you will have a coming to God moment. The clinch revolutionized mma. Rock em Sock Em died A LONG time ago sadly. The knees and elbows Frye would receive vs a modern fighter I wouldn't envy. With that being said claiming ANYONE would beat him is a pinch excessive. A picogram

Hed lose to just about everyone. I'd give him a token victory in an 8 fight contract [ 1-7].....prime Frye. This is mma and fighting isnt fighting. Yes- at the end of the day it's a fistfight in a cage but it's still mma and the structure of combat is just different .please.
Now - If Frye had a son and hes been raised and trained in an atmosphere where he had several different coaches for several different disciplines along with THANKLESS HOURS spent on cardio then were having a different discussion.
