I did a seminar with Eddie Bravo a year or so ago at 10th Planet London, and he was a pretty cool guy, he asked me how long I'd been training and I said it was my first day and his response was:
"First day, man you're meant to look retarded on your first day"

So I can live with myself knowing that while I may not have been good on my first day, I did not look retarded. :P

My sister had a boxing class with Kevin Mitchell as well when she was a little kid, as he went to the same primary school we did, so he came back every so often to teach the kids some stuff. And a friend of mine did a sparring session with Wanderlei Silva when he came to do seminars at the London Fight Factory, he's a pro kickboxer but he said Wanderlei kicked the shit out of him sparring

What about you guys? I imagine those of you going out to Thailand especially have some cool stories.

Cool thread ... it will be nice to read other guys experiences.
As for me no , never had that pleasure ... the closest thing is my boxing coach who is a former National Boxing Champion ... he is not famous tho... but i dont care about that , he is a great teacher and still kicksass ... so thats fine by me.

Man this is actually my dream to train with a famous proffesional fighter especially Mcgregor since we share many stand up techniques and i can learn alot from him .

My old instructor...not sure how famous he is but Lerdsila is a former 3x Raja champ (115/118/122lbs) and came up with Saenchai at Jocky Gym when they were young. The first two gyms in the clip are where I used to train. Was blessed to be able to spar someone like that, even if I felt like a kid against him lol:

I've held mitts for cowboy cerrone before. Very cool dude! Didn't go 100% because he was wearing fight gloves.

i've sparred with Pornsanae! Even while sparring thai style you could feel the power behind his low kicks, insane! Super cool dude also

Me too. His hooks are heavy even when he goes light.

I landed a cartwheel kick on his neck though lol

Visited CSA and tried to schedule a private with gaston bolonos but we couldn't work it out in time before I had to leave for home. Good dude though

Chibin Lim is my current trainer...I've sparred with him plenty of times over the past few years. just straight boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, and clinching. he's whooped my ass in all aspects...clinching with him is the most tiring though. his neck is damn strong

here's a clip of him when we were helping him train for his fight in Glory a couple years back

Probably the most famous I've trained with is Ian Freeman - did a seminar with him about 7 years ago or so. Have also trained with Gary Turner who has had plenty of K1 fights, and some MMA fights in Cage Rage, used to post here back then too, super nice guy. @AndyMaBobs I very loosely know Kevin Mitchell's sister.

If someones been in the game over 6 months they've probably trained with SOMEONE somewhat famous.

Or they're wasting their time :P

Maybe just an opinion but if you're serious why not learn from the best?

I MT sparred Wand once..was pretty uneventful I made contact w/him 3x and we got separated. I guess the coach thought he'd retaliate on me and didn't want that on his insurance lol. The kid who he sparred before I went got lowblowed to the ground than Wand dropped the guy after him. Was pretty awesome seeing him just break people playing with them. Weirdest part was people seemed jealous of the guys who got dropped. Training is weird sometimes.

I've sparred with a Top #10 Lumpinee/Raja stadium fighter-- Rob Prakhantree-- D. Uyenoyama, C. Cariaso, R. Nijem. Mostly MMA guys, though they aren't of A+ high-profile.

I've trained with:

Andy Souwer
Jomhod Kiatadisak
Peter Aerts
Nokweed Davy
Lucien Carbin
Gago Drago
Sergio Wielzen
Buray Burayilmaz

I'm always most impressed with how fluid and relaxed the combinations are of the top fighters.

From Peter Aerts and Andy Souwer I learned some feints that I still use.

The Thai fighters are so tricky. They are on another level.

Held pads for Monkey a few times could not believe how hard he kicked.

i've trained with kaensak from thailand he trains at one of the gyms i go to.
