Ever Been to a chiropractor?

I've personally been helped a lot by a chiropractor with my back pain.
Yours seems to be a "good" entrepreneur. Though, he could be a good chiropractor at the same time.

I went to a couple in my late 20s with back pain and they made is a lot worse. I credit the last one with putting me in hospital courtesy of telling me I have one leg shorter than the other, supposedly proven by his expensive x-ray. He gave me a heel lift which made my problems (which were actually a bulging disk) much worse and within a month I was in surgery. I don't have one leg shorter than the other and never have.

The thing to remember with Chiropractic theory is that it's pre-scientific nonsense. If a Chiro helps you it's in spite of Chiropractic theory, not because of it. A "good Chiro" uses less Chiropractic techniqies than a bad one. A good one uses proven physiotheraputic techniques rather than mumbo-jumbo "subluxation theory". If you've not read into this it's worth doing so as most people don't realist what BS is behind it.

I always laugh when I hear "my Chiro is excellent, I've been going to him for 20 years..."

I saw on TV a Playboy model died from a stroke after chiropractor damaged her neck or something like that.

She damaged her neck while giving her chiropractor a stroke. These dudes just in it for the women bro

so why then? why did you have a treatment?

nice AV haha

I saw a couple of Youtube videos so got me curious, plus I had a voucher at the time so the whole X ray, spinal re-adjustment cost less than $20.

the stroking must've been really intense...

I go a couple times a month.

Although there was just a story where a chiropractor ripped a chick aorta doing a neck maneuver and she died.

Most likely a vertebral artery dissection. That's what's associated with chiropractic cervical manipulation.

but no benefit huh? I guess that's good though. Nothing to fix.

yeah, the av is actually a result of me losing a bet with a Conor fan.

My dad used to pick us up after school every Tuesday for chiropractic work. Not sure why because I didn't have any problems.

When I was 25 I injured my back in BJJ and went and saw my chriopractor. Within two consultations I was fine. But I now have a really weak lower back and it is probably because I didn't treat it properly the first time. I think he only took care of the symptoms but not the long term problem.

I've had friends swear by them. For most people it is a quack profession.

Chiropractic is total unscientific bullshit. There are no studies that show it does anything. Just anecdotes from people, who generally need to go every week or every month for 'maintenence'.

I went to one guy once for a few visits. It was bullshit, the whole thing seemed super scammy and I had no relief at all.

I've been to some shit physiotherapists as well but at least that is based on science and actually works.

There seems to be more quack chiropractors than good ones. I went to one years ago that was a complete waste of time and money. All he ever did was hook up the electric shock wires to my back and leave. He took X rays that I paid to have read, yet they didn’t recognize I had a fractured vertebrate. The guy I go to now is pretty good, and doesn’t push you to make weekly visits. He just says if you feel good, don’t come in. I have chronic back problems (degenerative disc disease, arthritis, ruptured discs, etc…) and it made a huge difference in being able to live without pain pills every day.

My neck has hurt for about a year now. So I figured I would try a chiropractor as my doctor sure can't seem to figure it out. So I went for an initial consultation. Of course he discovered "I think you need chiropractic work."

I'm thinking "Great! That's why I am here. Let's do it." He says, "We will need to take x-rays. I will schedule you to come in tomorrow at 2 PM. "

I'm thinking, "Shoot, I already had to get off work early today for this, and my neck hurts now and I really wanted to get some help, but OK I'll get off early again tomorrow and do the x-rays. then this guy can look at them and figure out what he needs to do."

So I get off work early and do the x-rays, and he says "I'll schedule you tomorrow at 2 PM and we can review these x-rays."

Im thinking, "Can't you review them right now and help with this damn neck pain?"

I say, "I can't get off of work early three days in a row. Do you have anything after 4 PM at least. "

"Unfortunately no, we close at 3 pm."

"OK well then I'll come in for a weekend appointment."

"We are not open on the weekends."

So now I have to get off early sometime next week. And I will lose my shit if we go over the x-rays and he says, "See there? that's what we need to work on. I'll schedule you for an appointment tomorrow at 2 PM."

I hope it's worth it because I've already paid for the damn X-rays and I don't want to switch to a new chiropractor who will make me jump through all the same damn hoops.

Your experiences?

On a serious note.....I go every two weeks due to l4 and l5 being smashed together

Chiropractic 'medicine' is not evidence based. It's a farce. If you're having back/neck pain, go to an ortho or a family practitioner.

I'm well aware they are nothing more than professional back crackers, but I've heard some are great at it and it brings relief.

My old Sambo coach was a chiropractor. Very handy as I used to put my back out fairly regularly. Locked up so bad sometimes I couldn't even get up off the floor. Such an awesome feeling getting my spine popped back in place and being able to move again.

I've quite a bit of experience with chiropractors's and they can really work wonders with soft-tissue injuries, but the drawback is that they seem to think they can fix anything. And often times it's just not possible, but they will still keep on trying.

Also, if you watch any of the Embedded series, most fighters will be visiting on a regular basis. If it was just a farce, you would think they would know that by now.
