Even though he lost, anyone else still impressed with Rothwell?

He looked in the best shape Ive seen him in (for Rothwell standards) and was moving really well, better movement than Ive ever seen from him before. Looked really good at least in the early rounds. He was landing some really nice kicks and punches with surprisingly crisp technique. And obviously the guy has an incredible chin. I think this was the best Rothwell weve seen, makes JDS' win even more impressive.

Big Ben will be back.

I think he just had a horrible gameplan, tbh. That and JDS was on point.

Nah, not really.

He looked like a mess against JDS.

He was constantly chasing after him, but just could not pull the trigger. JDS had him covering up almost the entire fight.

Never really went after takedowns, etc...

Wasn't his best performance imo, which also had to do with JDS' boxing and movement being superior.

JDS was just too fast and agile but that still doesnt mean Rothwell didnt look good and improved. JDS was just better, Ben couldnt really catch him. Seems JDS finally learned to circle instead of just backing up straight.

He looked like a punching bag on a rotating track. Monsters don't believe in angles

Yes. Needed to follow his corner's advise better, but easy to say when I'm not being punched in the stomach. He's good though. I definitely look forward to watching more of him.

Of course. Big Ben has had a great second wind during this run in the UFC.
I think he's an important fighter in that a win over him should be considered a very big deal.

Not his best performance, but JDS also fought a smart fight.

I think that just had more to do with JDS than Ben. JDS was really on point and looked really the best Ive seen him. At least as good as pre-Cain JDS maybe even a smarter improved version.

He's just like Roy Nelson, only impressive thing is how a fat man can take so much punishment and make it to the final bell to lose by decision ...

Not really, chin is one of the best
Power will alway's be there...

But didn't put enough pressure on JDS.
Didn't use any wrestling.
Stand Up look bad imo... (but it's easy to look bad Vs JDS standing up)
Rothwell in a bigger camp would help him, but it's not like the guy's could improve a lot more at his age...

Yeah true, his game plan was the major problem, it was the wrong game plan. I was shocked he never went for takedowns, I thought he will go for takedowns but he didn't even attempt them

The dude was moving forward the entire time. He deserves respect for that.

I actually agree to an extent. His striking wasn't too bad, and he looked good. For the most part, his reflexes were pretty good, he showed a solid chin, but he ate way too many body shots.

The fight IQ was awful though. He had plenty of time to figure it out and change it up...but continued to do the same crap. If something isn't working for the first 10 minutes while you're still fresh...not sure what makes him think it'll work for the next 15.

I agree I wanted him to pressure more and really commit to takedowns especially as the fight went on but thats easier said than done. Dudes young for a heavyweight, only 34. Hunts nearly a decade older than him and still going strong and improving. Bens got a lot of time left.

The commitment to body punches was what made the difference in slowing Rothwell down. Not the best performance from Ben, but he'll bounce back.

There was nothing redeeming about that performance. Not impressed with him in this fight at all. Was impressed by him submitting Josh Barnett and knocking out Overeem.

It's now or never!
work on footwork (footwork is pretty bad)
work on level changing a little
develop a good jab

3 little things would make all the difference in the world.
