Ireland is two countries? Wow
Nope. Northern Ireland and The Republic of Ireland (Eire) are two countries, both situated on the island of Ireland (which isn't a country).

Holy fuck I'm getting confused.Nope. Northern Ireland and The Republic of Ireland (Eire) are two countries, both situated on the island of Ireland (which isn't a country).

I guess that's what happens when you reply on a Risk board for geographical education. You could work for Reebok![]()
33 and 3 quarters. If this isn't a rude question, how old are you?
Listen pal, it's been like 15 years since I was in high school. And Google ain't teaching me that shit unless I ask.For the record, Northern Ireland is the top bit of the country, and it's part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain (England, Wales, Scotland) and Northern Ireland. EIRE is the Irish Republic, and they're not politically linked to UK/GB/NI.

Is it too late to pretend I was trolling the entire time? Then I prescribe you 120 minutes reading Wikipedia:
- Ireland
- Northern Ireland
- The Troubles
Dude, that's like the greatest achievement of my entire life. What? You actually graduated?
This information will literally never help you get a job therefore it is meaningless. To be fair it's pretty confusing. If you consider that technically, the only two countries in the British isles are The Republic of Ireland and The United Kingdom, and that Wales, Scotland, England and Northern Ireland are principalities of the United Kingdom- It can get even more confusing. So much so that most of the people here don't fully understand it.

FREEEEEEEEEEDOM!
And yes, pretend away. Frankly, the geopolitics of north west Europe are pretty confusing, and they take a bit of studying before any of it makes sense.
The short of it is that Ireland is broadly Catholic, and Northern Ireland broadly Protestant. The small differences in the way they worship the same non-existent deity has led to many horrible wars.
