Interestingly no one has won all three of their group games. The best performing teams are Croatia, France and Germany, who have two wins and a draw. Ireland and Iceland showed a lot of heart today beating teams that really should have been considered out of their reach.

Also note that the UK has 3 teams in the final 16 as it stupidly competes as 4 teams instead of 1.

Now the final stage begins on Saturday, no more draws! Win or you're out!

Sorry I can only do up to 15 options so I have missed out Iceland.

Predictable answer but I am going for France.

Ireland winning the poll. Close it now. Also note that we compete as two teams instead of one.

Good to McGregors and Gunni Nelsons countries qualify. Iceland will win it though, calling it now, may not be the most talented team but they are organised, disciplined and calm under pressure, nothing phases them.

lol Northern Ireland? WTF is this bullshit?!

Anyhow, Croatia vs. France in the Final

France wins Euro 2016

Monday: England vs Iceland, England win 100%, sorry. If they only win 1:0 Iceland will have done well.

France will dominate Ireland on Sunday, also 100%

Amusingly Northern Ireland are playing Wales on Saturday I might as well list all the matches at this point actually

Saturday

Switzerland vs Poland
Wales vs Northern Ireland
Croatia vs Portugal (should be interesting)

Sunday

France vs Ireland (France by flawless victory)
Germany vs Slovakia
Hungary vs Belgium

Monday

Italy vs Spain (barnburner, most exciting match here)
England vs Iceland (England by fatality)

Thread will probably go horribly wrong after this but I would love to see you say that to a group of Northern Irish fans' faces.

I don't fancy Ireland's chances against France, playing the host nation who have had a couple of days more rest than you is a tough task.

I think Iceland can beat England though, not all that impressed with England, only drew with Slovakia and Russia (the worst team in the competition), they did beat Wales but I think Wales left that one slip, they should have been able to hold on to at least a draw. Also England have never beaten a team managed by
Lagerbäck. On paper it looks like a gimme for England but I don't think it will turn out that way.

Well this is an MMA forum, go look at Norman Parke's twitter. He enjoys the wins of both Ireland teams as much as the rest of us.

I can't imagine a universe where Iceland knocked England out of an international tournament. They played their hearts out and took some teams by surprise but their fairy tale ends here, England will be ready and will suffocate them with midfield possession and we have seen that Iceland's defence can crack under pressure.

As far as England goes the match with Russia wasn't especially good but they had Wales and Slovakia under absolute siege. At the group stage all that matters is that you go through, there's so much pressure and so little time between matches, everyone is making a lot of adjustments. A lot of the time teams are just playing for a draw and take a chance if they sense it. Things often change when you get into the KO phase.

England will beat Iceland safely, probably with a goal in the first half. Now if I've figured it out correctly the winner of England vs Iceland gets the winner of France vs Ireland, so that will be France and they will beat England almost for sure.

Good for him, I wish there were more people who could support more than one team from the home nations.

I'm not sure what "home nations" means, is that a new thing? I can tell you though that it is pretty cool to have our little country with two international teams progressing. Double the fun!

The Home Nations refers collectively to England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland (countries of the United Kingdom), and in certain sports (e.g. Rugby football) contexts, to England, Scotland, Wales and the whole island of Ireland. The term "Home Nations" is used in this second sense partly because Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland have a unified association structure in certain sports, such as the Irish Rugby Football Union

How extremely qualified and quaint. So English. Nice to see the English still including foreign countries in their imaginary bubble centuries later.

The sun never sets on the british empire!

Gotta go with the World Cup title holders ... Even without Reus , which was a big blow, imo they are still the most solid squad mentally, tactically and technically.

Bogeyman I am starting to suspect that you are ever so slightly racist against British people. :(

That makes me quite sad after all we have done for you over the years.

Oh well I don't know if you're a rugby fan but at least we can cheer for the British and Irish lions together. :)

As for Northern Ireland as I said if you think that there has been a mistake there it can't be too far from where you are, you've only to drive up and find some locals and explain to them that they are in an imaginary English bubble and are actually Irish. I'm sure you will be received well.

I think you are underestimating Iceland. Its no fluke that the got here, they qualified from a tough group beating the Dutch twice in qualifying and qualified automatically, they're no mugs. I'm glad though the bookies agree with you as there is great value on betting on an Iceland win.

Left Wales out of the poll

You disgust me

Voted Belgium cuz they have the best players all around, and I hope they win, but something isn't clicking. It seems they're one pass too slow on offense. I think they can do it with their potential, but I wouldn't bet on it. I'd bet on Spain.
