Who would she play? Not Sersi I hope, it's ten years too late for that.
I hope it's not Sersi as well. Angelina could play Thena or Elysius.

Elysius
BoRpQYQ.jpg

Marvel is looking for an actress, 20-40, for the surprising role of Elysius.

Elysius is an artificially created being patterned in and possessing the attributes of the long-lived offshoot of humanity called Eternals. She has superhuman stamina, and her strength, speed, and durability are higher than that of a human. Elysius possesses an extremely long lifespan and immunity to all terrestrial diseases. Elysius has limited telepathic abilities of an I revealed nature. She keeps griffin like creatures which obey her telepathic commands. She uses an alien hand- weapon capable of disrupting force fields or of firing energy of an unspecified nature as bursts concussive force. Elysius was created by ISAAC, the sentient computer system of Titan. She serves as ISAAC’s lieutenant, and aided ISAAC in its conquest of Titan. She later aided Captain Mar- Vell, and Drax the Destroyer against ISAAC, Stellarax, Lord Gaea, and Chaos. She then began her romance with Mar-Vell.

Thena

An actress 20-40 is being sought for the role of Thena.

Thena was born in the city of Olympia in ancient Greece, and is thus one of the Eternals of Olympia. Originally named Azura, but her father Zuras had her name changed by royal decree to resemble that of Zeus’ daughter Athena to seal the treaty between their two peoples.

Thena became a scholar and a warrior as she grew. Like all Eternals, she has superhuman strength, speed, stamina, durability, agility, and reflexes. Thena also possesses the ability to manipulate cosmic energy to augment her life force, granting her virtual invulnerability and immortality, the ability to project cosmic energy from her eyes or hands in the form of heat, light, or concussive force and possibly other powers. Thena has total mental control over her physical form, granting virtual invulnerability and immortality. She also has the ability to levitate herself and thus fly at superhuman speed, the psionic ability to rearrange the molecular structure of objects, the ability to cast illusions to disguise her appearance and that of others from the perceptions of normal human beings, the ability to teleport herself and others with her, and the ability to initiate formation of the Uni-Mind.

She carries a bow that fires arrows that release “cold energy”, and she carries an energy spear that surrounds victims with a ring of intense heat and light or bombards them with anti-gravitons.

Yeah, I don't really want any real huge actor to get these long running Marvel roles.
You gotta kinda be in it for the long haul.
And Jolie is not only a big actress, but she seems unstable.
A one off, or limited role would be cool.

Read it, really liked it. Though i'm not a fan of the artwork (the style in issue #1 just doesn't sit well with me), Gaiman knows how to draw a reader in. Could be I'm fed up with origin stories due to oversaturation of the superhero movies, so I had to power a bit through Issue #1. The rest was a full on binge read. I kind of felt like there was no closure (to which i'm used to), but maybe it's for the better, as it is a different ending to a lot of comic storylines out there.
basically, they have to deal with the judgement by the sleeping celestial (once he makes it), and can do nothing about it, not now, not ever. Seems kind of... nihilistic, for a lack of a better word.
Sprite thing in the train was brutal. Did not see it coming.

I did like how they presented the picture of how a god (or a being a million years old) would look at a human. It was humbling.
Somewhere around the time they full on embrace their eternal forms, I kind of didn't feel it, and felt a bit disconnected from the main characters. Maybe it was bcs of the binge reading, i'll see if I'll read it again and change my mind.

Back to the cast and Jolie thing... IMO she's a tad too old for the role of Sersi. And not suited for Thena.

As soon as I saw this pic

, I immediately thought of Sofia Boutella, based on looks alone. Jolie would also be larger than the character (think Will Smith in Suicide Squad). On the other hand, I think that Pitt would make an excellent Ikaris (hypocrisy on my part, i know). As for Viggo Mortensen (was mentioned somewhere) and I see him as Zuras, if he chooses the right accent. Him or Damian Lewis (ginger power). Not sure (or don't care much ATM) for other characters.

All in all, I'm on board now, though I think it is a bit too much of content to cover, and a large step from the usual MCU stuff. I know we had gods, aliens, superpowered humans, talking raccoons and whatnot, but all of it was connected to the human/Earth story. Now, the story (I suppose) happens on Earth, but you have this entire new world building, with the Celestials, the Eternals, the Deviants, connection to Titans (and Thanos) which is IMO too complex and I'm not sure it will be taken seriously by the casual moviegoer. The more I talk with casuals (khm plebs khm), the more I see they don't want to watch 12 previous movies or read a 20 issue comic in order to understand a single movie. And that's fine. That's why GotG was great. It works by itself, and as a part of the MCU. And this looks like it has to be two movies, with the second one doomed if the first one doesn't go well. But I welcome MCUs attempt on it.

If Jolie stars this will be the first Marvel film I won't watch in cinema.

If they couldn’t get InHumans off and running, what makes them think The Eternals will stick?

And Jolie is not only a big actress, but she seems unstable.

I didn't include this in my original complaint but I was also thinking the same. I left it out because Marvel I assume makes people commit with a contract for multiple movies if I had to guess. Then again Angelina has been around for so long I could see her being able to break a contract and pay any related cost without even breaking a sweat.

With psychic powers and flight and transmutation and force fields and...
And eye beams, super strength and of course eternal youth/immortality.

Oh, and the mother fucking Celestials!

Rumor: Hercules to Be the Male Lead in ETERNALS and He Might Be Gay

GhoUuNZ.jpg

Marvel’s The Eternals is gearing up to be the MCU’s next big franchise. Recently, reports have claimed that none other than Angelina Jolie will join the cast, likely playing the female lead. And we now have a clue as to which character will take the role of the movie’s male lead.

According to MCU Cosmic, Hercules could be the protagonist of the film. Like Thor, Hercules is a Marvel hero who’s derived from the mythological figure of the same name. In fact, the God of Thunder and the ancient Greek strongman have long been allies and occasionally rivals. Hercules is also a frequent member of the Avengers on the page, so there’s a lot of potential for the character in the MCU.

MCU Cosmic also notes that, if this rumor is correct, it would mean that Hercules is the film’s openly gay lead character, which will be a milestone for the franchise. Earlier this month, it was reported that Marvel was looking to cast an openly gay actor for The Eternals and this info suggests that the character will also be of the same sexuality.

This would mark a change from both the myths and the comics, though, so you can already imagine the backlash it’ll receive. Seeing how left-field castings for mythical characters like Heimdall (Idris Elba) and Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson) have worked so well before for Marvel though, we’re sure this contemporary take on Hercules is the right decision.

This is just a rumor for now and we can’t be sure that Hercules will be part of the movie. Still, seeing as the Eternals is a property so closely drawn from Greek myths, it makes sense to feature the most famous legendary Greek hero in the lead role. Even if he’s usually separate from the Eternals mythos in the comics.

The Eternals is looking to start filming in London this September, with a speculated release date of 2021. In other words, more official updates should be on the way soon.

F’in Love Hercules they better not make him gay. If anything he should be sleeping with every woman around him.

What would even be the point of that?

Might just be a minor character detail that the article is choosing to focus on.

I doubt his sexuality/sex life will be any significant part of the story.

So no need to be concerned.

Nerd rage in 3...2....1....

Edit:

It has come to my attention that Hercules has long been gay/bisexual
